So I'm trying to replace my LOTR (non-LE) DMD with the ColorDMD. I've successfully done this on my Williams pins previously no problem, but I've never removed a Stern DMD.

I removed the display controller board no problem. I removed the metal plate that covers the board on the DMD itself. I removed the black screws that hold the DMD bracket to the wooden speaker panel, but the thing still won't come out. I can't tell what's keeping it in there, and I don't want to force it and ruin it. There appear to be screws under the green DMD circuit board holding a clear shield onto the wood speaker panel. But this doesn't seem to be holding the DMD itself in place.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Quoted from DCFAN:

Looks like it is ready to lift off.

That's what I thought, but it seems like it is stuck, and I'm worried about damaging it when I pull it off. Does it adhere to the clear shield some times?

Ok, it was just stuck. The foam padding was adhering to the clear shield. Thanks DCFAN. Your comment gave me the confidence to just pry it off, and everything is fine.

Thanks for the input!

Quoted from DCFAN:

That looks great. I also got mine installed a couple hours ago but had to leave right when I finished to go out with family, so I have not had a chance to play any.

I think it looks fantastic during gameplay. The colors on the balrog animation and other in-game animations are great. Couldn't have asked for any better. They clearly put a lot of work into it.

During attract mode, the colors on the text are a little loud for my taste. I think the "Lord of the Rings" animation looks great. But I'd rather see the colors for the high score initials be a little more muted than bright green.

But the overall package it awesome. I have a color DMD on my STTNG and WH2O also, and I think the LOTR is the best of all of them. Really looks good.
