I finally had enough time to start this. I got through WCS. Standard settings, except Special awards an extra ball. I only collected that once, during the game that became my new GC. Here are my results:

Second attempt more consistent, but aside from game 1, not very happy with my scores. Average dropped 80,000.
I'd call your second run slightly better. You were missing the big scores, but your median increased from 165,625 to 177,230. As you stated, it was much more consistent than the first run as the standard deviation went from 230,378 down to 104,340. When going head to head it's just as important to avoid the clunker as it is to put up a huge game.
