It's been a couple of years since I've been playing pinball now and the biggest thing that aggravates me is my inconsistency. My high scores are getting better, but unfortunately my scores are also all over the place.
So I was wondering and thought it'd be fun to see how consistent you guys are. Pick a game of yours, play ten in a row, and then post your scores. This isn't a competition for highest scores, this is more about consistency.
The way I'm going to do it is just write my score in this preview box after each game until I have ten scores, and then post.
First game is Firepower (5 ball):
1. 107,900
2. 437,800
3. 334,550 (pretty much all ball 5)
4. 104,650
5. 681,400
6. 76,600 (WTF!)
7. 217,800
8. 113,450
9. 105,700
10. 633,500 (At least I ended well.)
MEDIAN: 165,625
AVERAGE: 281,235
HIGHEST: 681,400
LOWEST: 76,600
STANDARD DEVIATION: 230378
CV = 82% <-----good number to compare with each other
*******************************************
EDIT: I've added a couple of numbers to my original post to help determine consistency and help keep track if my numbers are improving as I do ten game banks or not. (If I'm wrong in the following explanations, feel free to correct me.)
MEDIAN: The higher number, the better when comparing to your other attempts on the same game. This number is your two middle results (5 and 6 if playing ten games) divided by 2. I like this number because over time it can show if you are getting better scores, even if your average drops. My second Firepower results in this thread had my median go up, but my average dropped because I didn't have as good a high scores as the first time through, but my scores were more consistent.
STANDARD DEVIATION: The lower the number, the better when comparing to your other attempts on the same game. When this number goes down, it means your scores are more consistent. I used an online calculator for this. If we take this one step further, we can compare results to each other (or even your own consistency across different games) by calculating CV. (Explained below)
CV = is coefficient of variance: The lower the number, the more consistent your scores are. After doing some research on the Internet and talking with one of my friends whom I consider very intelligent, I feel this is a good number to help compare the results of everyone who participates in this thread since we're all playing on different machines with different rule sets, conditions, have different skill levels, etc. My purpose of this thread was to see how I compared to everyone else where it came to how inconsistent my scores are. This should help illustrate that. For those like me who don't know how to find CV
CV = Standard Deviation/Average Score
AVERAGE: Everyone knows this one, but in the off chance you don't it's the average score of your ten game run. Calculated by adding all ten scores together and then dividing by ten.
HIGHEST: Your highest score in the ten game run.
LOWEST: Your lowest score in the ten game run.
