Take the glass off the playfield and shine a bright flashlight horizontally across the playfield. If you don't see ANY dimples in the playfield, more than likely it hasn't been played on. If you see a FEW dimples, it probably has a few plays on it. If there are a LOT of dimples, it has been played on a lot. In case you are wondering what "dimples" are, they are small indentations in the playfield caused by steel balls getting some "air" and compressing the wood playfield ever so slightly. Dimples don't lie...you'll know if the seller is telling the truth or not!

    Quoted from BackFlipper:

Easiest way to tell is a close examination of the playfield. A few dimples usually means testing at Stern. More than 20 dimples, it's been played.

Must of posted this while I was typing my post!
