HI all, I have a Totan and made a terrible mistake. Ive been trying to fix a number of issues and I reseated the ribbon cable that connects the CPU (?) board at connector J202 to connector J601 on the PCB Audio Visual board. I had the ribbon cable on the CPU oriented with the red strip on the left and on the PCB board the red stripe was on the right. I turned the game on and everything flashed and went dead, I turned the game off immediately then switched the cable orientation and now the game does not power up at all.

How bad is this? What should I check, I can't get the game to power on at all, I have no idea where to start.

Thanks for your advice.

Ribbon cables carry data, not voltage. I would check fuses and see if something simple went poof

Check the main fuse.

Oh, so good to know they don't carry voltage, I was afraid I burned up the whole game.

Quoted from Gunnut40:

Check the main fuse.

Where would the main fuse be located? I did a visual inspection of all the fuses on the WPC and PCB board and they look fine.

You should check with a DMM. Use the continuity function.

And you will have to remove them

Unfortunately, you can't just do a visual inspection of fuses. It's common for them to blow, but still look fine. You have to test then with a meter to see if they still work.

The main fuse on TOTAN is up front on the right by the service outlet.

The main fuse fixed it, thanks so much everyone!

No problem. Let's just hope it was a tired old fuse, and not indicative of a bigger problem.
