Quoted from vid1900:

The Diamonds are rewards for those distributors that buy the 10 packs.
Just like you buy a case of a certain doll, they include a single "ultra rare doll" that the anime dealers can sell at a premium.

Good call putting it in terms Pinside can understand with the doll metaphor.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

Yeah the Beatles were huge back in the day, but not many people are nuts about the Beatles anymore sorry. Beatle mania is almost completely dead.

It's like you're channeling The Clash circa 1979!

London calling, now don't look to us
Phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust

Joe Strummer was a man ahead of his time, but who would have guessed he was referring to a pinball machine that would be released almost 40 years later ...

Quoted from j_m_:

after listening to the podcast, joe really comes off as someone who is a very angry person. during that interview, he continues to tell everyone to "lighten up" but then proceeds to bash JJP (too many f*cking rules according to him) and other companies for their products
I guess in his mind, it's ok to piss and moan about things outside of [his] project, but it's not ok for anyone else to express their opinions. and the whole thing about the coin door appears to come down to, "yes, you can add one for an additional cost", but at $7999 MSRP it doesn't come with one

I must not have been listening to the same podcast, as I definitely didn't hear a "very angry person."

Joe does appear to favor a certain kind of game (accessible, 80s-style) which seems OK by me. And his criticism of "too many rules" and "picking a character" could have been a reference to JJP but would apply equally to anything Dwight has coded for Stern. Those happen to be some of my modern favorites but I didn't take this as him attacking JJP, other Stern games, or me personally. Maybe he has a point with this whole "lighten up" thing.

Quoted from yancy:

Why am I arguing with people who care if a manufacturer has sold all of a particular item to a distributor. Jesus, it's come to this. I used to have joie de vivre, now I just have "well, ackchyually..."

Hah! FWIW, I find that beer helps with this ...

Golden Beatles in the house! At least on this I found while going through a box of my old music/drum/guitar books I haven’t had out in years.

Looks like Ringo did those sculptures himself.

Quoted from snaroff:

No matter how many times you and others complain about price, Stern doesn't care. I guess it's a form of Pinside therapy to whine incessantly about price?

I don’t think LesManley has complained about the price (at least not in this thread).

We have a lot of Hitlers.

As I understand it, the original plus 94 backups (The Boys from Brazil was a documentary, right?)

I can't quite put my finger on why but all of the Beatles threads have been much more pleasant lately.

Localized internet outage in Madison, maybe?
