Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Why can't Stern do a decent gold powdercoating?
GOTG looked awful, as did WWE.
It really isn't difficult to pick a nicer version.
If I was buying a Gold ie if price was more realistic, the gold trim would really be a downer.

I hear ya there. It's not that it's difficult for Stern to pick a nicer gold powder coat but rather the extra expense. Another $20 or so per game to do a high quality metallic powder coat would really hurt Stern, especially with them charging $8k for a basic game. Hell if they did the games may start at $9k! I don't know how they could do it and how would customers react getting such a nice powder on their games. Very risky. #sarcasm, lol.

Quoted from BrettC208:

I love the art packages. Just not a huge fan of the gold trim.

I would be surprised if that is the art package. Playfield all look the same. I'm moving my pins into a bigger room in house to make room for 3 more pins. Then I'm done, just like I said at pin #4.

#303 5 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

Because the latter Elvis stuff was not as **rockin* for a fast, SR pinball machine.
"Come Together" is a slow tempo song for pin.
The tempo has to match the action on the playfield.

Most of the later stuff doesn't rock, except a few selections from the White Album (Paul's too BTW).

#304 5 years ago

Yoko Ono just released a new single.

#305 5 years ago

The Gold powder coat is as UGLY as Yoko and that ain't easy to accomplish.

#306 5 years ago

The gold trim is ugly, but I like the art on the Gold Edition. If this was priced at $5700, like any normal pro, I would have no trouble pulling the trigger.........but at $7600, I will be passing. Mamma didn’t raise no fool!

#307 5 years ago

I'm getting one. Looks great.

#308 5 years ago

One Distro is wanting to trade a Beatle's Diamond for a Porsche 911. Is that a joke?

He "only has 2 available"........

#309 5 years ago

What an old 914? Might be an even trade...

#310 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

What an old 914? Might be an even trade...

Not even close unless the 914 is not close to drivable.

#311 5 years ago

These would look a lot better if they were done in black and white.

#312 5 years ago

Oops

#313 5 years ago

@clg, pretty much my point?

#314 5 years ago
Quoted from pinballkyle:

Everyone wants a classic redone - and we get this overpriced nonsense

Redo a classic as a classic, Seawitch is Seawitch, leave it that way, the same as Fathom is Fathom, leave it that way, Quicksilver is Quicksilver, leave it that way. etc, etc, etc
People don't have to agree
Just my opinion...……...

So true.

Yes, the license per game cost more.

But looking at the re-skin, BOM must be lower than a standard pro.

And coding, well, it's not going to be same depth etc so that has to be cheaper.

Lonnie on code?

Anyway, any price higher than a standard pro is for mugs only!

#316 5 years ago

When I look at the art package pics, they remind me of Charms and Chuckles candies.

Quoted from clg:

I just looked it up and can't believe the prices on 914 Porsche these days. It was a glorified VW. I had one in high school and it looked good but was a crappy car. The prices back then were much much less than $10,000. At least the parts are a little easier to get now with the internet.

What’s he need with 2 911’s? I guess if he can get them for $14k he’ll give one to his gf.

I'm getting my Beatles around Thanksgiving. I let you guys know how it plays.

It's possible that The Beatles Store only got one 10 pack? Wouldn't take long to sell out one of each, if that's all you got.....

Value or what an item is worth is very subjective.

An item is only worth what people are willing to pay and there are plenty who will pony up for this and many other luxury items.

#337 5 years ago

Isn't $8000 the new $800. If it is they will sale out.

Man u r way off here. If the early Beatles and early Elvis is "rockin" and the latter is not then I have to assume u r hearing impaired. 70's Elvis has some very fast numbers and he put together one of the best bands in history. I'm not a big Beatles fan but I do know there library and more than enough decent pin music to work with after the Bowl cut era.

That's quite a list you provided!

You are right, I can't believe that Stern did not choose to have a single song play over and over instead of 9 rockin' early Beatles songs.

Quoted from Hazoff:

Yep.

Wow, I had no idea that Elvis recorded so many very fast hits in the 70s !!!!!!!!!1

I can't believe that Stern could not chose 12 very fast songs from his 70s work!!!!!!

Here is every 70s single:

"Kentucky Rain"
"The Wonder of You"
"Mama Liked the Roses"
"I've Lost You"
"The Next Step Is Love"
"You Don't Have to Say You Love Me"
"Patch It Up"
"I Really Don't Want to Know"
"There Goes My Everything"
"Rags to Riches"
"Where Did They Go, Lord"
"Life"
"Only Believe"
"I'm Leavin'"
"Heart of Rome"
"It's Only Love"
"The Sound of Your Cry"
"Merry Christmas Baby"
"O Come All Ye Faithful"
"Until It's Time for You to Go"
"We Can Make the Morning"
"He Touched Me"
"Bosom of Abraham"
"An American Trilogy"
"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"
"Burning Love"
"It's a Matter of Time"
"Separate Ways"
"Always on My Mind"
"Steamroller Blues"
"Fool"
"Raised on Rock"
"For Ol' Times Sake"
"I've Got a Thing About You Baby"
"Take Good Care of Her"
"If You Talk in Your Sleep"
"Help Me"
"Promised Land"
"It's Midnight"
"My Boy"
"Thinking About You"
"T-R-O-U-B-L-E"
"Mr. Songman"
"Bringing It Back"
"Pieces of My Life"
"Hurt"
"For the Heart"
"Moody Blue"
"She Thinks I Still Care"
"Way Down"
"Pledging My Love"
"My Way"
"America"
"Unchained Melody"
"Softly as I Leave You"

I love the beatles. I love pinball. I don't love the price of this game. No Beatles pin for me.

Hmmm. I’m thinking a whole lot of smaller Distros wouldn’t drink this 10 pack

Way too much risk

Plus, why would you want to be a part of F ing other people at these prices

Some have no shame

There is no requirement to buy the 10 pack.

Smaller distros can just do the usual single Stern drop-ships like they always do.

Not what I hear from them

So a “smaller distro” can just drop ship a Diamond or Platinum without committing to 7 Gold?

I’m sure it will come to that eventually but not now

Don't play dumb, you know he meant golds. Bigger distros probably deserve the rare ones anyway.

The Diamonds are rewards for those distributors that buy the 10 packs.

Just like you buy a case of a certain doll, they include a single "ultra rare doll" that the anime dealers can sell at a premium.

My distro has sold through two 10 packs, so that means he got 2 diamonds and got to "earn some actual money for once" by selling them.

Quoted from yancy:

Exactly, you and I and the rest of Pinside could drop ship Gold versions for them. No Distro needed

Not enough “collectors” out there to choke this down. Not here on Pinside, the subhumans

Good call putting it in terms Pinside can understand with the doll metaphor.

So we should feel bad for that Distro for be able to fleece some fools to make a profit? Nope, don’t think so
