We got blasted by a snow storm in N California. We lost power, water, heat and have been running a generator for the last week. Luckily we have a wood stove to keep us warm.

I did receive a bunch of Simpsons pinball machines that I’m working on. 2 TSPP and 1 Data East.

Just got home from a pinball tournament at a local Pinsider's house. Fun times!

Thanks Captive_Ball for hosting it!

Giving tlc to a NGG I picked up right before New Years. 11 year old son went with for the pickup, his first one. He loves this game. It seems perfect for his age. I’ve almost got it dialed in real good now, ordered a bunch of parts and will be doing a thorough tear down and cleaning in a couple weeks

Watching Twilight Zone marathon on TeeVee.

Took a couple weeks but I have all my machines actually fully working again. I'm not going to detail the boring things that were wrong but lets just say a bunch of shit was broke. I need to order some new pop bumper caps for Fathom. Looks like Marco's is the place for those? Happy pinball new year!

Spent the 1st hoping the power would come on after 5 days of being in the dark and fucking cold. It did. Spent the rest of the day continuing to stress about my elderly parents still stuck in a cold, powerless house.

Hope you get power today. We got ours back yesterday down in Amador county. My parents are south of GV on 49 with no generator, managed to talk them into going to the overnight shelter last night.
It's been a stressful week!

Thank you. It sounds like it might be another week before we get power. I have a new generator being delivered hopefully sometime this week. When I receive it, I can let your parents borrow mine. It’s fucking cold and couldn’t sleep. I’ve heard of other elderly people without generators. Please let me know if I can help you out. I can stop by and check on them or bring them food, blankets, etc. Additionally, there’s some nice local generators on Craigslist going for under 400. There 5000 watt. I can pick one up if you want and bring it to them.

Bringing them down to our place today now that we have power again. Thanks so much for the offer!

Sucks to start off the New Year without power. Hang in there!

#74 2 years ago

Spent the first two days of the new year following a online collector auction and watching people overpay on just about every lot.

I did score a vintage neon sign for the gameroom. It wasn't cheap but didn't overpay either.

Quoted from ralphs007:

I'm gonna put together a model of the Titanic, that I bought last Christmas. I'm also going to play more video games on my PS3. Maybe by the time I get this model put together, and I play a bunch of video games, pinball price's will come back to earth. Then I might pick up another pinball machine.
Hobbyists who put models together all the time, said it took them two months to put the Titanic together. So I figured it'll probably take me eight months.
[quoted image]

I finished up the Titanic two nights ago. It wasn't too bad except for installing the the guy-wires. I always thought that I was a pretty patient person, but the guy-wires almost drove me insane.
I did have an iceberg but it melted by the time I took the picture .
I never knew this but the forth funnel on the Titanic was added just for aesthetics.
It wasn't actually fake, they used it to vent other areas of the ship such as the smoking lounge, Turkish bath, etc. It also housed various pipes for the ship. But it didn't vent the boilers like the other three funnels did.

Now I might give this 3d puzzle/model a shot. Once I'm done,I can show movies to my friends when they come over.

Haha, you're not fooling me, you're using that for pornos.

This one's pretty cool, and it uses batteries no hand crank.

#78 2 years ago

A hand crank would be ok with me. Doing is more fun than watching.

I agree but I do like how big the battery operated one is.I just ordered the retro camera from Walmart,it was cheaper than Amazon.

Practicing for retirement, spending 3 weeks in Florida. In 40 years of work, I’ve never taken this much time off at once.

#81 2 years ago

When I started this thread 28 days ago I was happily working on my BK2K, now I’m laying in bed recovering from having my left hip replaced a few days ago. The two procedures are unrelated other than they both use tools made by Snap-On and others
Kicker is I got home from surgery and my son told me our BK2K is out of order again so I’ll have something to do once I’m mobile again in a couple weeks!

I am sorry that you are having to go through any of that.

Life sucks sometimes, but normally it gets better.

As far as how am I starting out 2022, well for a while my girlfriend has been wanting to go back to Busch Gardens at Tampa, and as a Christmas gift I said I would make that happen, and next week we will be down there.

(And while I used to love all those rides, in a few weeks I may be like you and lying-in bed from some surgery to recover from those rides).

Getting old sucks sometimes.

We went around this time in 2009 and had a good time even though it was a little colder that year - looks like it will be pretty good temperatures for you. The Busch Gardens parks (here and Williamsburg) are really beautiful parks, I think the Williamsburg is almost perpetually crowned the most beautiful theme park in the US.

Busch Gardens Tampa is a lot more laid back than Disney Orlando. Hard Rock casino Tampa is close to Busch also.

I have been to that park several times, and it looks like any other nice park to me.

I have seen the awards won by that park you are talking about.

The last time I was ever there they would not let me buy preferred parking, wanted me to ride the tram.

For real I was about to bust and looking at landscape areas before ever making it to the pay for parking booth.

I told them I needed a bathroom ASAP, and they sent me to another lot they said would be close, and I seen the entrance to the preferred parking and drove right around the dude there and went on to the restroom.

I was afraid I would get towed, but all good.

I hope nothing has changed, but in the past the Tampa park just seemed a lot more laid back.

After leaving there we are headed 2 hours further south to fish for 3 days, and that area is very awesome and laid back and the fishing is awesome.

For years I would just go to the beach at the FL panhandle, but too many rules now at the places I used to stay.

Hell, a lot of nights I would sit in the hot tub until 2am drinking beer, but now they close that at 10pm.

WTF? I am barely back from dinner at 10pm and the hot tub is closed now? Hell No!
