I was thinking of the power outlet but that isn't it always on?

There’s a few ways but why do you need a 12v not from the game?

I’ve seen that some setups mention that the power draw with lit speakers is high. This is for a 90’s Williams if it makes a difference.

Order the separate power supply board.

From who? I have not seen that.

I’ve put colordmds in plenty of B/W even with other 12v lights and mods.

Install it first before you go searching for solutions, you prob don’t need it.

I wire a service outlet with one plug always powered and the other powered when the game is on. I then just use a generic 12V laptop style power supply to run my Pin2DMD and any other large draw item with it stressing the board power.

That device is a splitter that gives you additional connection points for mods. It connects to the game's existing 12 volt supply. The OP is asking for an additional, separate power supply.

Not sure why it wouldn't work, there's an on board 2 amp fuse but to each their own.

Ya, the wpc stuff can be finicky with lots of 12/5v add ons, heck even stock with old parts. You could add/wire in an arcade psu for 12v off the line coming in, or after the switch so it turns off with the game.
