I wanted to install a backbox lock where there was none. The second bolt just spins, it won't go in, but it won't come back out either. It feels like there's a tnut that's no longer held in place. But the whole board it's mounted on appears to be glued / finish nailed into place, no way to remove it to fix the tnut.

Had anyone encountered and solved this before?

Quoted from Marvin:

its just held up there with the 2 screws. no finish nails or anything. take out the one screw that you can get out. Pull down on that side to put pressure on the other side so when you turn the other screw there is friction on the nut in the head, it might keep it from spinning so you can back it out.

I meant the board is probably held in place with glue and finish nails. This idea is good though, I'll try it, thanks!
