    Quoted from Jared:

Trying to decide which game to bring...

I hadn't seen a Maverick at the Houston Expo before.
Good to see some Dallas and Austin guys coming to the Houston show.

    #16 10 years ago
    Quoted from PinballPark:

    special guests this year!

Can't wait to hear about the guest speakers.

    #19 10 years ago
    Quoted from PinballPark:

Umm, we need to have a wall of Metallica's there!

Hopefully Joystix will bring a couple of Pro edition machines.

    #21 10 years ago

Now if only there could be a pinball expo in the Austin area roughly in July. A major pinball event every 4 months in Texas would kick some butt.

    #32 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

Keith usually has his Joust there so that should be covered. But, thank you for the compliment!

Actually, I think Keith may have sold his Joust. Have to get back to you on that.

Quoted from Marc:Hercules is a bitch to move without help so that's one I'd have to figure out logistics on.

I'm trying to get Dan to allow us to pick up his Hercules and take it to the show. It is not as nice, but still would be cool to have his there being it is in decent shape.

    #42 10 years ago

Safecracker and Orbitor 1 gets my vote.

    #44 10 years ago

I don't see it on any of the game lists from 2010 to 2013.

    #46 10 years ago

Good to see that Orbitor 1 plastic sets are available for those project games that someone may run across.

Hoping some more people add to the game list this week. I am trying to make sure if I bring more, I don't want to bring a duplicate game. So far there are only 6 people bringing the allegedly 18 listed games.

    http://www.arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

How about it Marc? Decided on which ones you will be bringing?

    #61 10 years ago

I know I will not be duplicating SC. Many people looking forward to seeing that one at the show.

    #62 10 years ago

I'm very excited. We have a bigger game room to fill this year. Hopefully, with the guest speakers coming this year that will help to bring some more to next year's show.

It would be nice if CoinTaker can make it out one year.

    #63 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

Since DD is going to be there maybe I'll unbox my MoPLE at the show so he can sign it.

Wow. Unbox that MOPLE at the show. That will be something to see.
    Did I read that right?

    #65 10 years ago

Wow!! We have 24 pinball machines listed already, 3 of them being Metallica machines.

Each arcade/pinball game you bring you can get a show pass

    #68 10 years ago

Still working on getting an Atari Hercules to the show. Hopefully, I will know on 9/1 if I can get Dan to let us take it there for him.

    #73 10 years ago
    Quoted from hassellcastle:

    Leaning towards Genesis or Jokerz.

I will also vote for Genesis.

    #75 10 years ago

Awww...the speculation continues. Star Trek will be the next Stern game and it will/will not have a LCD screen.

    http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/so-when-is-the-next-stern-game-out

    #77 10 years ago

I'm hoping he will let us guys bring it if he didn't have to physically move it.
Hercules would make a good tournament machine?

    -1
    #81 10 years ago

Would regular tokens work? Could it be good to keep the SC tokens at home and use generic tokens at the shows.

    #83 10 years ago

I'm sure you could figure something out but how pissed would you be to work your way to a Magic Token to get just some generic turd.

Good point. Originality at its finest. Looking forward to playing that game.

In the mean time, just trying to do some adjustments to the BSD that I took to the Expo last year. It has red and blue 4-LEDs from Pinball life in the GI. It sure lights up a dark room

    DSC00356.JPGDSC00356.JPG

    #84 10 years ago

It sure is one fast playing game, especially with the shorter lightning flipper bats.

    #85 10 years ago

I see SafeCracker made it to the game list today. There will be some happy people at the Expo.

    1 week later
    #87 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Any news on the Hercules now that we are in September?

Not yet. Still working on that. I assumed I was going to see Dan at a 9/1 party.
Now I need to contact him soon since I have an urge to go work on a couple of his games at the pinball museum that he was having some issues with. I'm lucky to only be 30 minutes away from that place. Just hate working all day on Saturday, as I am today and likely next Saturday.

    #91 10 years ago
    Quoted from PinballHelp:

I will be there. The last two years I've helped out in the tourney area.

Your help is very much appreciated. I hope you get some time to play some games too.

    #92 10 years ago

Anyone else bringing any unique games to the Expo?
I have another chance to talk with Dan tomorrow about the Hercules.

    #95 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

Did we ever find out if there will be a Joust?

I sent a message to Keith to find out if he still has a Joust Pinball. If nothing else I should find out Saturday 9/21.

Marc, are you still bringing Orbiter 1?

    #96 10 years ago

Turns out pictures of the actual Star Trek machine look much better.
Some pictures from the Stern assembly line.
    http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/picture-of-a-real-stern-star-trek#post-1108006

    #97 10 years ago

Well, Keith no longer has his Joust pinball. I don't know anyone else in Houston. Can you bring yours Marc?

    #102 10 years ago
    Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

What was the approx. number of pins that was there last year?

I think I remember counting 70 pinball machines there last year. I helped keep many working as I could as they went down and I had access to keys.

    #103 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

I think Marc has said he can really only bring two games.

Well, that is what you recall reading. I talked with him on the phone, sounds like he may be bringing 4 machines. Maybe 3, if Hercules ends up being one of them.

    #105 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

He has such a cool collection of rare games.

And those are the type he plans on bringing.

    #107 10 years ago

I just got home from Dan's place. I can't talk him into letting us take Hercules to the show.
He actually is planning on taking a rare and unusual Viza War pinball.
    http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2753

    #108 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

I have sent an email to add O1 to the game list.

Sweet !!! Game 2 for Marc.

    #112 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Is there a backup plan for having a Hercules at the show just out of curiosity?

With Dan it seemed he had some trouble getting in his place with the normal sized front door. He talked about turning the cabinet sideways to get inside.

Marc was pretty interested in bringing his Hercules until I mentioned I was trying to get Dan's there.
Now I'm stuck. Hoping Marc will consider bringing his out to the show.

    #115 10 years ago
    Quoted from Pickle:

Brian said he would unload it and set it up all by himself if you brought it

I can help, but by all means, I can't handle it by myself.
Already see 3 Metallica machines on the game list so far.

    #116 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

perhaps if he is having general storage issues (and it is actually in his house eating massive space) he would consider or be actively interested in selling it to someone who would bring it to the show.

The game is at his play house, not at his actual house.
It doesn't sound like it is leaving for any reason.

    #118 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Funny enough those four specific games in aggregate probably take up about the same amount of space as one Hercules

Well, with only 36 pinball machines on the list so far, looks like Hercules will have plenty of room.

    #119 10 years ago

Rob Anthony will here there again this year selling parts and repairing boards.
    http://www.arcadecenter.com/Exhibitors.asp

If I read this right, so will Multimorphic will be showing the P3 again.

    #121 10 years ago

Orbitor 1 is now on the game list. Thank you, Marc.
    http://www.arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp?search=Pinball

    #123 10 years ago

Just heard last night from the owner that Pinball Magic will not make the show since it sold.
    Someone is bringing a Hyperball.

    http://www.arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

    #126 10 years ago

That is correct. I counted 70 pins last year at the show. Total with the arcade games and console games, should have been about 180 items there. We did have to turn away at least 7 machines due to running out of room. Had to make sure Illinois Pinball had enough room for the pinball parts that Gene had brought.

With the expanded room this year, we hope not to turn away any machines.

    #127 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

That's to bad, I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to play one.

I had my Pinball Magic at the show last year along with Twilight Zone, Earthshaker, Corvette, and Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Like us on Houston Arcade & Pinball Expo FB page.

    #129 10 years ago

I was quoted as having 12,000 sq ft for the game room and the tournament area.
Vendors will be in a separate area this year.

    #131 10 years ago

Safe Cracker is on the game list.

    #133 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

    Who said 12,000 sq/ft?

Keith mentioned that to me. I also was thinking 8,000 sq/ft.

    #140 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

Can't wait till November, Houston is a great show to relax at

Marc, I'm still trying to find out where you ate that one year and went home sick (even to the ER) before the Expo weekend was even over. I got sick last year (should have went to the ER) from Sunday breakfast at the hotel upon load out. Since I was the only one, I must had gotten hold of some dirty utensils or plate/glass. Took 3 days to recover from that.

Probably not something I should have posted here, but what can I say.

    #142 10 years ago

As soon as I ate that breakfast, I felt a fever coming on before making it back over to the machine to break down. I headed for the bathroom within 20 minutes after that fever started.

It really could have happen at any restaurant, but it sure took me out quickly.

    #146 10 years ago

    Golden Cup?

    #149 10 years ago

Haha...Barry is right in on the correction. Thanks Barry!! Sounds like you know the place very well.
There are many good places to eat near the Expo right down 290 within 4 miles.

    #151 10 years ago

Also Twin Peaks is near there along with Denny's and TGI Fridays.

    #158 10 years ago

Oh yeah, I seem to recall a Texas Roadhouse near the Expo as well.

    #169 10 years ago

Wondering if Marc is considering bringing Hercules again since it fell through with Dan letting us bring his for him.

    #171 10 years ago

Maybe next year then. Looking forward to playing everything you will be bringing this year.

    #173 10 years ago

I'd figured he would go for it if he didn't have to move it.
He mentioned not wanting the hassle of seeing anyone get it out of the standard size door.

    #175 10 years ago

Oh hell yeah!!! Hercules is making it to the Expo!!!
Thank you Marc for showcasing your machine.
This will make this year's Expo EPIC.

    http://www.arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp?search=Pinball

    50 pinball machines and counting.
34 days to go until it's SHOWTIME!!!!

    #177 10 years ago

    It's nearly SHOWTIME.
Good to see a Hercules at a bigger and better Houston Arcade Expo.

    #178 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

It was the only way I could get you to stop stalking me

Figured the lunch or dinner on me at the Hotel hooked you into bringing it.

    #179 10 years ago

    Hey Borygard,
What type of parts you plan on bringing out this year?
Will you have some colored cliffy post "rubbers" ?

    #184 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

I rearranged my machines yesterday so I could get my game out of the wedge

What game are you bringing out of your lineup?

    #189 10 years ago

Thank you for the email TigerLaw. I look forward to playing your game.

    #190 10 years ago

So far, it only seems to be a few machines at the show with a ColorDMD installed.
I see Attack from Mars, CFTBL, STTNG, and then Popeye with the sigma mode installed.

    #191 10 years ago
    Quoted from Decat:

My Elektra should be delivered tomorrow or Wednesday, so it should be ready for Expo.

I look forward to playing it. Thank you for showcasing it.

    #192 10 years ago

Just announced on FB that Marco Specialties will have a booth with us this year!
I can imagine they will bring at least one new Stern Star Trek.

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Houston-Arcade-Pinball-Expo/223834217626840

    #194 10 years ago

Good news!! Dan is bringing a head-to-head Viza War pinball to the Expo. It is very similar to the Joust pinball.
This one has a really cool feature. You hit the middle shot and it disables the opponent's flippers for a set time.
It is a real fun game.

    http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2753

    #195 10 years ago

Some more machines were posted last night and just a bit ago. Up from 116 to 151.
Breakdown - 65 pins and 75 video games.

    http://www.arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp?search=Pinball

    #199 10 years ago
    Quoted from Pinballfantexas:

I'm also really looking forward to his next custom game to Spook House.

    When is that due out?

    #201 10 years ago

Parts vendors usually sell things a bit cheaper at the Expo than they would on their website.
Though Marco doesn't normally bring parts, but you can order on their website at the Expo and receive free shipping.

    #208 10 years ago

    Quoted from Marc:

I sent my updated list. Ended up bringing 10 games instead of 5.

Very nice!! I will owe you that dinner or lunch for bringing Hercules.

    #225 10 years ago
    Quoted from Marc:

I've never had surf and turf in Houston

Well, I'm more of a steak person actually. Though Red Lobster has some good chicken.

    #226 10 years ago

Thank you hassellcastle for bringing Genesis.

    #227 10 years ago

95 pinball machines listed. Still not too late to put games on the list that you want to bring.

Playfield glass is usually only available from Illinois pinball, who also will be there.
They now sell different color playfield rubbers. I recall seeing green and purple.
These are supposed to have the same bounce as the white ones.

Among the 100 pinball machines listed, there should be a WOZ, 2 new Stern Star Trek and 5 Metallica pins that I hope will make an appearance.

    #235 10 years ago

That sure is a nice collection of games you are bringing, Marc.

    #236 10 years ago

Thursday load in for the Expo starts noon until midnight.

    http://arcadecenter.com/loadinfo.asp

    #239 10 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Get in line Nevus! We all owe Marc a couple beers at the show.

I actually owe him a lunch or dinner (not the hotel food) for bringing out Hercules!!!

    #244 10 years ago
    Quoted from retired_user_101:

why do i get this feeling i'm going to come back much poorer

Depends on what game you are looking for...or get addicted to.

    #246 10 years ago

Looking forward to seeing some pictures posted of the game room tomorrow early afternoon.

    #248 10 years ago

The game room is not overflowing already is it? I still have my 6 pins to bring in with another guy's 5, then still have Marc's Hercules and 5+ pins as well loading in Friday morning.

    #249 10 years ago

    Let the games begin!!

    #250 10 years ago

2 hours until the Expo starts.

    #280 10 years ago

Thanks again to Marc for bringing his Hercules to the Expo along with the many other machines. Hercules seemed to be a constant playing machine. You helped to make this year's Expo EPIC !!
