Quoted from PinMonk:

Apparently not a dealbreaker. Gomez keeps cranking out clunky designs with a LOT more experience.

I wouldn't say Gomez is cranking out games. I would say he retweeked an older game and hasn't made a new one in 6 years.

#77 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Tomato, tomatoe. Point is, he designs more clunky games than smooth shooters and people keep asking for more. .

Tomato, potato.
Avengers, Tranformers, BDK....not real popular games people are asking for more of. I mean not for the last 15 years anyway.

#80 5 years ago
Quoted from IdahoRealtor:

Not sure where we're going with the Gomez thing

That he doesn't design machines anymore unless it's a refake or child predators (alleged) are removed during production.

#115 5 years ago

Houdini is the clear choice.

For people that sell Houdini mods eh eric?

#121 5 years ago

Does Houdini at least shoot better than Alien?

#128 5 years ago
Quoted from Sinestro:

Dialed In the most overrated game in the history of modern pinball.

Well there's an ebb & flow; Remember 6 months ago when it was JJPOTC?

#139 5 years ago

My only gripe is the time I played it you couldn't skip them, which is an option

#168 5 years ago
Quoted from IdahoRealtor:

You mean like Roller Coaster Tycoon?

I'd still take RCT over 98% of Balcer games

#173 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

OMG. Now you're just being ridiculous for effect. RCT is one of Lawlor's worst games.

PL worst > Balcor's best

Quoted from IdahoRealtor:

LOL. Come on. TSPP & WOZ aren't that bad.

You know honestly I don't know the whole story on TSPP, a game which I don't like but respect. On both sites Balcor receives second billing for the design and I've always thought of it as a Keith game (right or wrong) so i kept it out of this. Unless someone can fill me in?
I mean I also just assumed it's Keith's because it doesn't suck HEY-O!

I would put Woz very very (EDIT: +1 very) low on PF design personally.

Quoted from PinMonk:

Line up all Lawlor's games on a list, best to worst. RCT is near the bottom on any sane list. So yeah, one of Lawlor's worst.

No one is arguing it's near the bottom of his collection. CSI & FG are worse. RCT wastes some space for sure, but it has some good shots in it.

#183 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Me: RCT is one of Lawlor's worst games.
Whysnow: that is not true.
Mmmm...

You're smart enough to know he was referring to your "wishing he could erase it" statement

#188 5 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Do they have any other designers beyond Joe Ballsearch, and do they plan on doing a whitewood next time around?

People here have said Balcor for #2

Quoted from rai:

Why do people say DI has linear rules and it that a bad thing?

I don't know, it seems to be a new narrative around here. Pretty standard mode based game.

#217 5 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Pretty silly. I'd love to see some of the "linear" scores these scrubs are putting up.

Well some of them are 5 ball and extra balls at scoring levels and replays so it's tough to judge

#223 5 years ago

The Bob awards are so random they're linear!

#226 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

some people just dont understand what words mean.

Yes he has his points but they have nothing to do with being linear; but whatever he's talked himself into it and he's locked in.

Random modes, multiballs, mystery awards, quick multiballs, hurry ups... Textbook mode based game.

#236 5 years ago

No surprise the rating system is pointless as we already knew.

Not quite sure there as bad as Nazis but it IS the Internet and all

Quoted from ThePinballCo-op:

You can’t readily take a hard game and adjust it to make it easier.

That's assuming that the game is set up to spec wherever you're playing it which isn't always the case. At your buddy's house sure but at a show or in a bar they set them up how they want.
But plenty of ways with closing lanes, extending ball save timers, carrot flipper etc

Quoted from IdahoRealtor:

Many years and thousands of pins sold to thank for that. AP less than a year and only a few hundred Houdinis sold. If this was APs 4th pin and they had similar exposure and fanbase I bet the poll would look very different.

Hey I bet Houdini would get a lot more votes also if Lawlor had designed it instead of Balcer

Quoted from Yelobird:

I HATE Nissan you are wrong! I did own a Eagle Talon Tsi which makes you half right though!

Eagle Talon was my first teenage car crush. Highschool in early 90s that Dodge/Mitsu lineup was sick.

#325 5 years ago
Quoted from MMP:

Cell phones and emoji... I still have flashbacks to what a lame reveal this game had.

Haha i think there's a big difference betwixt the people like me that didn't see it and the emotional trauma you guys lived through. I just always assumed it was going to be a disaster theme and it was. Didn't seem that strange to me.

#342 5 years ago
Quoted from jkleinnd:

I am worried about this with Dialed-In, even as I contemplate purchasing it nonetheless.

You're a good person to ask this because you're a potential buyer.
Fads, phases, old timey themes aside, what does it matter to you if the theme is "outdated" in 10 years or not? Other people just don't want the game and I understand that and I have my own themes I would never buy, but I've never once thought "will this theme stand the test of time or not."

Side note: Emojis are one mode in the game and really aren't featured that much.

#353 5 years ago

It's like any other game, you never know what you're going to like. There isn't a company, designer, or rules guy that bats 1000 with me.

Quoted from Parzival:

- I had considerably more issues with my NIB Dialed In LE, then my NIB Houdini.

Yeah i have no doubt of that.

#422 5 years ago
Quoted from branlon8:

what is it about the title and theme of DI that cause so many people to feel the need to express their dislike on Pinside?

Where you around when WOZ came out? Wow that was a shit show that makes the whole "mom jeans" thing pretty tame
I have no idea though. It seems half the people upset are too old to use a cell phone, and the other half "play pinball to get away from their cell phone" which , whatever it's all weird shit.
Always thought it was going to be a disaster game, I think most people that know things aboot designers thought it was going to be a disaster game; and it is.

#424 5 years ago
Quoted from Tranquilize:

I find the side ramp to be the easiest side ramp in all of pinball.

I know if you turn the flipper power down it's easier to make the SIM which is what some people do. But yeah, never heard of trouble hitting that ramp.
