Quoted from flynnibus:I don't see a ton of hot wheels jackets/tees walking around town...
At least as many as Monster Bash, Attack from Mars, and Medieval Madness jackets.
I wear a Saturn Sky jacket, but that doesn't make it a good pinball theme.

And how many Elvira (or Munsters) shirts have you seen lately...?
No one was saying Elvira was a bad theme.
I don't think t-shirts are a great pinball-theme indicator.
My point was that Hot Wheels could still be a good pinball theme (like Munsters), even though kids aren't wearing Hot Wheels shirts.
I'm not sure that "generating new players" is what boutique-level manufacturers are very concerned about, as most of AP's business is the home market.
I think people put way to much emphasis on theme.
Look at the top 3 pins...MM, AFM, MB. No one would have considered them as "awesome licenses". But they are awesome games...and that's why they are popular.
If Hot Wheels is a great game (and AP can get people's attention), it will sell...if it isn't...it won't.
Hot Wheels is at least as good a theme as Houdini or Ocktoberfest, probably better.
Quoted from pipes:Do you consider Oktoberfest to be a ‘great game’? If so, then why did it sell so poorly?
No, I don't consider it to be a great game (though in fairness I only played it a couple of times). But that's my point, it didn't do well because it wasn't a great game (and also a lot of people just never saw/played it at all).
But it didn't fail because of the theme - it failed because so few got to play it, and those that did were not overly impressed.
So if AP can fix THOSE issues, then Hot Wheels (which is at least as good a theme as their previous ones) can do well.
