Down at the Heart and Dagger tonight to get a little practice in before California Extreme.
Two good looking girls playing some pinball. I was on Attack from Mars and they were on Creature. They moved over to TOTAN. I moved over next to them to play some Creature. "How's this one playing?" I figured I'd get an "okay" or "not bad" or whatever.
Instead she said, "It's pretty good, some of the FILM letters are out, and when you get multiball the left ramp is like impossible to make."
Wait, hold up. They actually know the rules? Oh man. That means opportunity.
A rare one. You can't waste them, my friends.
"Hey lemme get in on your next game. My name's Jon."
"I'm Jen, this is Kimberly". Kim was looking good, real good, a half-korean woman. My long-honed Bay Area gaydar clocked Jen for the other team, but Kim was definitely open to negotiations, so I focused on her.
I suggested AFM, a particularly brutal variation, with shallow flippers and big outlanes, but no tilt. Lock ramp totally un-makeable. That means slide-saves, go for the saucer and backhand stroke of luck. Perfect opportunity.
Two death saves and a multiball to get the replay on ball 1. Throw in some bounce passes, tap passes, drop catches and the occasional live catch. They couldn't get enough of it. I knew they were impressed.
When she said, "Wow, it's so nice to see a real pinball wizard", I knew I had it. (Which I'm anything but.) "I'm alright", I said, "but hardly the best". Gotta throw in some modesty.
I knew I could have sealed the digits but But BUT... fact is, I got a great girlfriend and it wouldn't be cool.
So I gave them a "nice meeting you" hug, which pressed me against Kim's heavenly boobage, and then cut out, despite the frantic calls to my conscience to do otherwise by the three whiskey and cokes...
But if I run into her again, man, I don't know if that little voice will win. 
My definition of good pinball? Yeah... that's pretty much it.
