Vid, some good advice, but you forgot to say that you have to then adjust the height of the spikes - both to make sure the speakers don't rock on an uneven floor, but also to tip the face of the speaker forward or backwards to make the imaged sound the correct height.
A singer who's voice appears to be 8 feet off the floor would be unnatural.
