I had a 12" self powered sub-woofer that was getting no use in my apartment in NYC,
so I hooked it up to my LOTR. If I have it turned up too much, stuff rattles off of my shelves.
The low frequencies are omni-directional, so it is not obvious where the sound is coming from
from the hallway. I love it. I have a couple Sony's still in the box to set a couple more to.
