Hello - I have been pulling my hair out on this one and I really don't have any to spare. I have a Hook that goes into slam tilt every time I hit the left flipper button. It happens even in attract which is really weird because I wouldn't expect any power to be there when the game hasn't started. It also fires a solenoid when I hit the right flipper. When I start the game, the right flipper actually works, but it also causes some weird scoring to take place as well. I am thinking there must be a wire crossed, but I can't find any and I have looked for quite a while. Has anyone had anything similar to this happen to them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated by the little hair I have left.

Did this problem just recently make itself known or is this a new machine to you?
Have you checked pinwiki, it mentions something similar in regards to tilt issues in section 4.9.4
It's even noted as a "real hair puller"...

Thanks for the link. This game is new to me so I don't know all of the history. It had the normal burnt connectors and some pop bumper issues that I have been working through. That could be a project to look at all of those switches, but it may be the only option. Would that still make sense that it would happen in attract?

Since the bolt / switch issue completes an unintended ground circuit, I would think, yes, it could do it in attract mode. It could likely be a couple of different things but since the bolt / switch problem is a known issue, and easy to check, I'd start there. Often it is the simple things that cause the issues and we jump to conclusions it is something more difficult to track down like in an IC that has NO moving parts. Do they fail, yep, but typically not as fast as some mechanical components.

Well I spent another couple of hours looking but can't find any places where that situation is occurring

I did finally give up and replaced the CPU board with a new Rottendog board. Everything works great now.
