Shouldnt start button be this?
One Louder

No, "Let's Boogie" is how the movie starts
I'm sure they can beat the 1 louder thing to death else where
Quoted from dudah:They've got a decent logo, but I don't need to see it all over a pin taking away from the theme.
Cabinet art also looks like the Union Jack flag, basic.

So they just reused the Austin Powers cabinet?

Better than re-using the Austin Powers playfield!
iron man (resized).pngThe start button is digitally printed with zero opaque layer. Based on that alone this game is going to blow chunks.
But mostly it’ll suck because we know they have no interest in making anything fun.

Walking Dead would have been a better example. They even reused the frickin' laser beam mech.

Yeah, that's a weird oversight. The other thing is in like 16 inches, you have the Homepin logo FOUR TIMES (Hopepin Ltd message, start button, and 2x on the leg bolts). We get it, Homepin made it.
The union jack is a nice choice, but not sure how the purple armor will look with that. It clashes in the small pic we got.
Like others, I'm just hoping the game design is good. Is this a Balcer parting gift, or someone else?

Some more pics posted of the pin.
Lighting board for the center amp dial graphic on the playfield between the slings with the giant "11" in the middle for some reason.

The mounting is super-ugly. With just a little refinement they could make it look much more polished.
Quoted from PinMonk:with the giant "11" in the middle
I still can't believe they got this that wrong. Putting the 11 in the middle of the dial changes and ruins the joke.
Maybe they are just messing with us, but probably not.

Stayed tuned as there's more "I can't believe they got this wrong" to come. I so wanted a Spinal Tap pin but, unfortunately, the wrong manufacturer got the license!
Quoted from meSz:Stayed tuned as there's more "I can't believe they got this wrong" to come. I so wanted a Spinal Tap pin but, unfortunately, the wrong manufacturer got the license!
I'm curious about the details in the license, though, since they're based in Taiwan and their market is most likely 80% outside the US. There might be legal room for another manufacturer(US based) to make a Spinal Tap, even a smaller one doing a limited run, could be awesome.
So the whole "they put 11 in the middle, it ruins the joke" outrage is just overboard to me. I'm guessing they made it that way because getting to 11 will be an achievement or mode and wanted it bigger and noticeable in the middle. I'm not going to care about photo shopped art or a Homepin logo on bolts either if the pin is fun and has a better layout than thunderbirds. They have something to prove obviously but a bigger 11 in the middle of a knob doesn't ruin the theme for me.
The 11 being in the center was obvious from the small art leak.
Interesting they're using a lamp matrix. Also multiple lamps under the insert lenses. Is the center a ring of lights pointing in? Some of the PCB marks on their lampboard are readable. I think I see "hammer" "torch" "phase" "tomato" and "ham"

There's no way in hell it could possibly be worse than Thunderbirds.

I do like how well Homepin labels their coils. Here's a spinal tap assembly of some kind, a scoop assembly, and some pop bumpers they shared...

Maybe they are just messing with us, but probably not.
If they had a normal looking dial label and then the 11 as a hidden insert, like the Future Car wizard mode on Corvette it could still be special, and not visible 100% of the time.
But why should anything be hidden? It's literally in plain sight on the amp in the movie and the special edition mini-amps Marshall made years ago. There's really no good reason I can think of to deviate from the iconic design that was seen in the movie. The joke is that his amp is one louder. He points it out, it looks odd because it's custom. The joke is audible and visible. Zero good design reasons to abandon those tenets.
Now, if that light board that was obviously meant to use that joke as a game mode, then why not have all eleven dial positions(as seen in the movie) and THEN do something in the middle for when eleven is hit or "full"? I don't know, seemed like an easy thing to have done.
Full disclosure, I've had the same avatar here on Pinside since I first joined. I've never changed it. It's not my absolute favorite movie in the world, but it's up there!
Do they HAVE to put the homepin logo on EVERYTHING? Talk about making some ugly drop targets...
274749034_1127153441390131_7801689111505056604_n (resized).jpg
"This is one of our trickiest mechanisms to assemble. Inserting the pivot rod is complex as it has numerous nylon bearings along its length. However, our drop target mech makes changing a target VERY easy. Two screws at the bottom and unhook the spring! All parts, including the springs, are stainless steel."
Quoted from PinMonk:Do they HAVE to put the homepin logo on EVERYTHING? Talk about making some ugly drop targets...

Seems like that would not be visible once installed.
Quoted from crujones4life:Seems like that would not be visible once installed.
At the very least it will be partially visible when reset and the target is temporarily higher. Completely unnecessary eyesore.
The fact that they keep showing assemblies and not features tells you everything you need to know about their priorities, and it’s not gameplay.
Quoted from Chalkey:There's no way in hell it could possibly be worse than Thunderbirds.
I hope not! PinStar had a Thunderbirds machine a few years ago at the Allentown Show. It looked OK but was basically unplayable. Player after player walked up and tried to play one ball then just walked away shaking their head. We were in line next to it waiting to play Wonka or whatever the new JJP title was.

What’s up with the hinge design at the bottom of the target?
Also the only noteworthy thing on the website is it seems like May 2022 will be the planned reveal/ship

Talk about reinventing the wheel. Drop target reset tech is well established there was no need to add a hinge and 4 screws to each target to complicate things.

Reading Mike’s post, it seems like the change was to minimize effort in changing a drop. Unhook the spring, unscrew the hinge, remove the drop and reverse steps for the new one.
Could be an improvement if the hinge doesn’t get gunky?
Seems like a step back to put the reset coil to the side. Larger footprint which constrains potential designs. But I guess it’s the trade off for serviceability
The reset coil to the side reminds me of Bally smart drops with the individual knockdown coils. Maybe this core mech design could accommodate that feature in another game?

I don't see the effort savings - seems like a lateral change, and the hinge adds another point of failure.
Quoted from PinMonk:I don't see the effort savings - seems like a lateral change, and the hinge adds another point of failure.
I agree the modern drop design isn’t that bad to work on.
Id like to see if they have some sort of test rig to show the drops being knocked down and reset hundreds of times a day.
Seems like Homepin should really focus on reliability because I don’t think the themes, rule design, art, unique mechs, or overall “feel” of the game is their strong suit at the moment. (Def not community relations either)
I’m just disappointed that on the artwork the band aren’t dressed as animals. They were considering doing a custom photo shoot for the pin art, until Mike was alerted just how much it would cost to dress the band as animals.
The back up plan fell through when no one could locate the misplaced Zodiac drawings.
This thing is turning into a cluster before our very eyes. I’m feeling very luke warm about it.
