Quoted from russdx:

Yes but only 1 game at a loud crowded show, so dint really get a feel for it.

I only ask because I owned one and think it's the worst game ever made. There's nothing worth salvaging from that mess. The playfield layout is trash so the gameplay obviously sucks. You can throw that playfield in a JJP cab and add all the bling you want but that game will never be fun. Ever.

lol man how is it so bad!

#4003 4 years ago

like pipes said, there is no salvaging the thunderbirds layout. if you chose door number 1, you got zonked. lets take a look at whats behind door number 2. will it be the big deal of the day?

Indeed, I suggested using raspberry pi / lcd so you could add all the lcd assets which appeared to be a big complaint from most people plus most people would probably prefer working with the mission framework then a custom one with probably less features.
Was only a idea, you could sell as an upgrade kit.

There is also a LCD addon called Chroma Color (https://github.com/LonghornEngineer/Chroma-Color) for that hardware which has been used in the Rob Zombie. LEDOCD just recently added this module to AMH to get a color LCD display in AMH. He might share the code if you ask him.

#4006 4 years ago

It's a total clone right down to using AMH's high score entry screen so yes, the RZ libraries could probably plunk right into it.

But yeah probably not worth it. Game isn't very good. Too bad as there's some cool stuff like the WCS swinging target they cloned, don't think there's a source for those other than Homepin.

The sound system is very robust that was probably the most impressive thing I saw. Heard, rather.

This is the most amazing review I have EVER read.

Brian

#4010 4 years ago

I laughed so hard reading that review. Thanks

#4011 4 years ago

That is some funny shit. I just laughed my guts out reading your review. I had to stop, and wipe the tears from my eyes so I could keep reading. Lucky for you, you got rid of it because I am sure the cabinet, electronics and associated parts will live for a very long time. We have some Homepin stuff and I guarantee you it is extremely well made.

#4012 4 years ago

lol that review, ok just forget everything I suggested

I also had to wipe tears. Sooooo funny.

I finally had a chance to play one. I do not read or care about other people's opinions so I have not commented yet. I like Popeye so I'm not the "bandwagon" type.

Total turd.

What a walk away game. I'm not sure how anyone can put that much time and effort into making a game and think this is something they want to sell to the public. No software can fix, sorry to owners. Never talked with or dealt with creators. Anyone cheerleading this game has a motive.

Well said.

This is SOOOO much better than any of the Lebowski threads!!

Nothing wrong with Popeye mate.

Mike's critical error was spending 95% of his time creating a factory and 5% of the time designing a pin.

This thing was announced in what, 2012, 2013? For "release in 2015" and was 3 years late. In all that time they couldn't improve the design? Back in 2013 there were still a lot of designers freelance before Stern and DeepPockets gobbled them up.

Granted I think the plan was to become a parts supplier and just use the pin as an example but practically any homebrewer could do better than this.

It kind of reminds me of Predaturd how they dragged that thing to shows for 2 years but never once tweaked any aspect of the design.

I can hook you up with a Sydney owner with a NIB Thunderbirds if you are looking?

#4023 4 years ago

There seem to be a lot for sale at the moment, but same could be said for Iron Maiden

lol, we know you would love to stream it.....

#4026 4 years ago

The topper needs to be one of those puppet heads with a big hand attached to it that reaches out and slaps you once in a while as it laughs......otherwise I'm not interested. Every time you press the start button, for instance, you should be slapped by the topper I think.

Wish Mike was still here to confirm if this is a possibility.

Although the term "error" is probably inappropriate...

Looks like he's working on 2 new games.

#4033 4 years ago

Who is the designer? Hopefully not the same guy who designed thunderbirds.

Flippers look a bit off centre to me? one is installed upsidedown.

Quoted from Rat:

Does not matter. As long as the shaft holes are in the right places the mechs can be rotated anywhere 360 to accommodate other underside parts.

#4039 4 years ago

Could be a Thunderbirds home edition??

#4040 4 years ago

Everyone makes mistakes!

Let's see if homepin learned from previous ones and improves on this game!

So
- get a real designer!
- use proper buttons (or copy correctly)
- metal lock down bar!
- lcd screen
- thicker side rails?

Not sure what else was wrong with it, just is just from following this thread / what others have mentioned.

#4045 4 years ago

1 week later
#4046 4 years ago

So let's see..... sucky game number one flopped. So now it's make sucky game number two. Can game number two be not as much of a turd as game number one was?

#4047 4 years ago

Since the 2nd game was teased as catering to asian market instead of the american market I'm very intrigued what that would be.

Some Jackie Chan Pin? Any Anime? Some K-Pop/ J-Pop Idol Band?

(JPop shoud design a JPop game! )
