Quoted from vegemite_nick:I'm not sure of that - "WILL still contain" (as stated) as opposed to "might still contain" would be the point of test machines - to find any not yet found. To send them out when there are *known* errors and faults would mean you are testing them with errors which I would have thought would compromise the information gained?
For goodness sake, stop being so pedantic please!
I made a SHORT comment in reply to a question on the Homepin Facebook page - I didn't write an essay in response to a casual question - don't dissect it and make something of it that was never intended.
To clarify: "As far as I am aware, these final test machines will be as complete and finished as anything we have built to date BUT will likely/possibly/maybe/potentially still have some incomplete things - such as the clear ramp, samples of which are STILL not to my satisfaction. Maybe they will also still be further changed or modified before we start on the first FULL production run straight after our exhibit at the Guangzhou Amusement show next week. Maybe they might still have some metal parts that we do a final tweak on before commencing full production."
It is simply the nature of the beast that there are so many things and parts that interconnect we are making small adjustments and mods on a daily basis and very likely will continue to do so right to the end of TAG production (whenever that might be).
It's just how pinball is!
With full production starting in a week or so we want the first runs of machines to be AS PERFECT and as COMPLETE as we can possibly make them and won't stop tweaking until they are as good as we believe we are able to make them. That is certainly one reason for these seven final "prototypes" - these machines will ship off all over the world to be tested in various places such as countries with voltages that differ to Australia/China to ensure we haven't missed anything and that they will perform as we expect.
There is a WHOLE lot more to getting this project over the line than anyone could believe.
As for EMI/CE/SAA testing and approvals - You must FIRST obtain a CE approvals certificate BEFORE any testing center in Australia will even consider an application for SAA approval. It all just has to happen in the right order and there are no shortcuts with this part of the process.
