This will be my next homebrew.
The layout evolved around parts i had. A fantastic ramp, a ferrisvwheel from cyclone, drop target banks.
The story of this machine is:
A girl has a lively fantasy. She is a hero who fights monsters and goes on quests.
I hope that i can show the story with some cartoon style animation.
The game will have two phases, a phase where you can travel to different places on the map and gather useful items.
And a fight phase, where you have easy and harder fights.
There will be an upper playfield for the boss fights.
Above the flippers there will be player controled magnets. I want that to be a cool feature where you can catch a ball above the flippers. And this time i want to use a joystick instead of normal flipperbuttons.
I hope for that to be a very special and unique pinball experience. We will see if this works out as i imagine.

Here is the design so far.

Oh wow, looking great! Is that an upper playfield?

    #5 1 year ago

Are you reusing the Cyclone ferris wheel to look like a water wheel?

Yes the upper playfield will be for the boss fights. It is quite large, i dont know yet how the cabibet will be like, i will have to try out what works. But i dont plan to make a standard cab

    [quoted image]

Yes i definitly want to do something like that.
i want to redesign the wheel and 3d print
it. The ball will then drop out to a ramp that leads to the kickouthole on the right.

Under the ramp is now a 3d printed part that can light up. And made a piece for lighting the 5 items you can collect in the game.

It's crazy how fast you are, it look like it will be finished in 2 weeks !
    Amazing !

Interesting magnet placement. The balls will end up in the characters hands? Kinda like the WCS magna save but on both sides.

Maybe you could a slick magnet pass with them like Lyman Sheats https://pinballvideos.com/v/1533

thank you, the frustrating things are always when you work an hour on a small problem to make it right, and in the end nobody sees this stuff.
But screwing on the big parts is cool. A lot is done with little work.

Really great imagination! Looking forward to future post.

Yes the magnets are under the hands.
what i want to do is, instead of normal flipperbuttons, a left and right arcade joystick. Up flips the flipper bat, down will activate the magnet. I imagine that that would be cool to play. Maybe similar to a dropcatch move. Or i don't know maybe something really cool is possible with that.

Maybe you can do a mode where the magnet briefly activates just after you flip, so it flicks the ball somewhere random after you flip. (Or maybe only if the game thinks the player trapped up to aim their shot)

    #18 1 year ago

Good idea! Or maybe an enemy has some magic that will activate the magnets to sapotage your shot.

i am moving on to another project, and won't continue this one.

    #27 1 year ago

That's too bad, but I bet your next project will be great.

    #28 1 year ago

holy crap, all that work to abandon it....
hope your next one makes it! cheers.

    #29 1 year ago

Yeah.. Still a cool playfield to hang on the wall, but i have to follow another idea. That project will get some parts and features from this one.

    #30 1 year ago

    What what what ????
That's crazy, so nice work and not finishing....
Did you spot some unsolvable problems ?

But I can't wait to see your next work !

Haha thank you, not really unsolveable problems, but a few things i wasn't really happy with my ideas to it, also i had the ferris wheel, so i used it, but i don't feel that that will work good. And i made some compromises, although i wanted that feature.. And for the cabinet ideas i had, i am not happy at all.
but some cool features like the magnets above the flipper will live on in the next project. I have not planned out all in detail of the next build, but the ideas just all come together, so i have to follow this idea.

I guess exploring a concept lead you to a much better prototype. Looking forward to it
