I've got a hot shots that I don't want to fix because it looks so lame. I don't have the heart to use it for parts so it just sits in a corner all folded up and lonely.

Maybe someone here can provide me with some valuable advice. My gottlieb hot shots system 80b. Boots into attract mode but the start button does nothing. Credits work but when I press start I get no response.
And I don't know how many balls go into the machine.
Everything is original even the battery pack. No mods have been done to the boards not even the slam tilt mod. Could a non working battery pack cause rhe game to not start.
The scores display all 0's but they don't flash as if its a slam tilt issue. The displays change from all 0's to displaying high scores.
Any help from a gottlieb guru would be appreciated.
Quoted from blownfuse:(@newtoit) First, get that battery off the CPU board. Second, I don't know Hot Shots but it sure sounds like the game is waiting to see more than 1 ball in the through when you start it. Try starting a game and let it reset, then add 1 ball. If it still waits, add one more. If it still waits, you'll have to go to test 18 in the audits and test out your switches to see what's going on. Third, do the ground mods, your game will thank you later.

Thank you steve I've heard you are the gottlieb guru. I cleaned the connections to the mpu and it worked. Its been sittting around for months and it was the easiest fix I've ever put off. It gave me the motivation to now clean it up to its former beauty. Jk it s a hideous game. And the translite is completely faded.
Quoted from blownfuse:If all you did is clean that connector and it came back, good for you. However .... (and I hate to say this) the problem probably will return unless you get into that A1J6 connector and install new Molex crimps in it. I'd also re-crimp A1J5 while you're there.
Steve
Im going to do an overhaul on it and will definitely replace connectors and move the battery pack.
