Hey there,
my first post on this great site. Forgive me my english, i am Dutch.. but i'll have a try....

I have been reading along for over a year now. Since i've picked up an old Pinball game at my friend's house.
It is owned by 4 mates and me . It has been stored i a shed and a bit forgotten. But after 8 years the space was needed and it had to move.

It did not function , only 6 bulbs where burning.... Since i am the one in our group who does the 'electra-things' , it was logical the machine was going my way Sooo... i have picked up ROBO WAR ... in a medium condition. Dust , chickensh*t, spiderrags (spinnenwebben) it was very dirty. BUT is was complete and its ours. How we got it, is a special story... for later on.

This was about a year ago , so i started learning. one of my teachers was PINSIDE and its members

NOW... i have decided to become a member because the reading has finished, and the questions start ...

The state now is... after a lot of cleaning, polishing and repairing... it works ! Its clean, it has a lisy80 board, its got an new connectorpin. Some new capicators and some new elements on the prints. It has LED lights , some new popbumper stickers, new droptarget stickers, new rubbers and new balls !

BUT.. here comes my question.

one of the small issues i still have is that the sound of the end tune keeps repeating. It will not stop. Only when i start a new game the tune changes.

I had the luck to purchase a Gold Wings recently as well... (work in progres, but the technnique works complete) i have borrowd the MA-774 and placed the original Roms to test if the Lisy80 was causing my problem, but sadly the end tune still keeps repating.

Is there anyone who can give me an idea to look for?
What could be the cause ?

Tips are more than welcome !

Looks very nice with the gold touch up.

But how do you fill in the gap in height? With epoxy? Or else?

I have seen Todd's Tips #970 Fix your DIM gottlieb display.
He does this with a 6 digit display.. which is complete dim.

The thing is.. I have a MA644 display with 1 dim digit. Would this trick will work on this display?

Can anybody tell me what the both outer pins do on ye 6 digit display? Could this be 6.2 V ac ?

If anybody can give information about this old display on what tje pins are, maybe I can look tis up on the ma644 and try it.

I still have a good spare
display, so we can try..

Quoted from Robotworkshop:

I would check for cracked solder connections first and if you find some that may help if your reflow/resolder them.

Good tip!
Will do that first..

Quoted from chuckwurt:

Anyone ever have one of these?[quoted image]

Yes.. here's one in the house..
Had to repair it today though... it wouldn't start up. So I repinned the 5V connector to the mpu.
Then after the self test the coils would fire, F4 was blown. And the strobe return 5 was dead (again). The stobe signal was coming until pin9 of Z14.. but no reaction. Luckily I changed this Z14 once before and it was socketed. So changing out was easy. Now it's full functioning again..

But I see you have more gottliebs in the collection. So you probably know a few pro's and cons about Gtb..
Succes playing against the warden

sixtyfourbits you says when you start the game (power on) you see the lights flashing but no display ? The display connectors can have a false connection.
When you power on there should be display illumination.
May be you can add credits.. you should here the coin sound..
If you do and there are balls , push start and the music should begin. If still no display check connectors .. sytem80b is connector trouble..

Speaking about Diamond Lady..

My dad has one , and it had a problem with the top kicker.
It would not kick the ball out.

Tested the coil (it has permanent power on one side, and neative connection is made through the board) by looking what side is connected to the popbumper board and connect it shortly to negative.. it should pop ! But 80% it didn't. But voltage is present on the live side..
So changed out a kicker coil with one from my Big House.
Checked all wiring and repinned connection. At this it looked better and solved.. only for 1 weak..

But looking closely to the manual I checked from the power side.. so started with the fuse. ..

Problem found !! The fuse did not clamp in firmly
It has burn marks, causing high resistance and therefore loss of power.

Cleaned fuse , adjusted fuse clips.. problem kicker solved..

Quoted from sixtyfourbits:

Thanks for the reply. I should clarify that when I power it on, the GI and inserts light up solid, no flashing / attract mode. The display does not light at all.
I tried pressing start but there was nothing. I feel my next step is to figure out what is preventing it from going into attract mode, and then from there getting the game to start.

Does the soundboard has a flashing red led.. or is is it not flashing..

If not flashing, steady lights , no display, probably no 'clunk' at power up.. it seems to be a mpu problem..
Does the mpu has corrosion on the board where the battery is/was?

Hey guys and girls..
Anyone happen to own a Monte Carlo that has the 'roulette wheel' sticker on the apron?
I am looking for a decent picture of it.
May be any one willing to make a picture? So I could try to reproduce it?
It's worth a try..
Further more ... the MC I bought has a bag of black star posts.. the ones on the playfield are transparent. And a lot of pictures I see has also transparent ones. Which one's are original?
