Just picked up a Monte Carlo so I'm in. I just jacked up the board though. Thought I could do the repair on the daughter board but lifted some pads and traces. Anyone able to repair these? Or have a board for sale.?

Has anyone used Great Plains replacement daughter board?

Need some help from the system 80b gurus. Need help understanding the switch matrix. I have a Monte Carlo showing 3 vertical columns closed when they are open. What ties the switches together vertically? Really want to get this playing 100%. Also, switch 65 which is the ball end trough fires none stop if you start a game. The columns showing closed are ending in 0, 1, and 3

Here is the matrix

Awesome thank you I’ll do some checking today

#3497 4 years ago

So looks like z13 is bad and z11 has a questionable leg so will re place both. One has a 7400 in it the other has sn74ls04 in it. Assuming they are the same since pinout is the same? I have spare 7408 on hand. Would those work? What should I get?

#3499 4 years ago

Looked up data sheet on 7400 and a 7408 so those don’t cross over. Looks like the 7404 is completely different. I have a local store that may have them so I’ll run by there in a few to see how much they’ll bend me over. I see they are cheap online but this place likes to up charge.

#3502 4 years ago

Ok made some progress. Changed the two ics and now switch 42 & 65 are closed. That is the trough and outhole. So two solenoids next to each other

#3503 4 years ago

Scratch 42 being closed. It’s supposed to when the balls are in duh. So just 65 and the switch is for sure open.

Is there anything in the schematics which diode goes to what? For switches

#3505 4 years ago

Think I figured it out

#3506 4 years ago

Ok so what I’m seeing is that the diode should be board 3A7J1. The arrow going to it says 14. Does that mean the 14th spot? Which way do you go on the diode board? There are 15 spots but only 13 diodes and per schematics there are spots for 15 & 16. Very confused here.

The end one was actually blown so I replaced that

#3508 4 years ago

Looks like it’s working now. The switch grounded itself out from the tensioner

question for you guys. was rebuilding a pop bumper on a Monte Carlo sunday. now all of a sudden the roulette wheel doesn't spin. from what I see in the manual, it is tied to relay 0. When in test mode, I notice relay 0 is closed and then relay D fires. Does relay 0 always stay charged? I did check the transistor q22 on the driver board is good. also made sure the ic at z6 is good. What else could cause the wheel not spin? all advice and help is greatly appreciated.

#3574 4 years ago

I started a game last night and noticed that relay 0 is on during the game. so where can I check since the driver board components seem to good?

curious on what everyone has their system 80b leveled at 5.5, 6, 6.5? wondering if I raise my monte carlo, will it speed up play but make it tougher to hit orbit and ramp?

#3987 3 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

My Monte Carlo is jacked up pretty steep and fast. Not sure the exact incline, but I have no issues making any shots. My flippers have been recently rebuilt though.

I probably need to do a rebuild
