I have a Sinbad and Joker Poker. Love both games. I'm a sucker for drop targets.

#152 5 years ago

Hollywood Heat got it all started for me as an owner - I bought it because it was cheap with nice game features compared to similar priced machines (which were mostly EM)... and I also knew I would need to see if I liked working under the hood. I loved fixing it up and thought I would move on from it but it has stayed in my collection and gets a lot of love I hope to get the chance to play some of the other Gottliebs now.

#153 5 years ago

We have a Hollywood Heat and recently picked up a Genesis. Both machines needed work, I am spending a little more time semi restoring the Genesis because we have the Heat to play. I think the 80B machines are fairly easy to work on. The biggest pain is the crappy solder jobs on the boards and the light socket grounds. I will try to snap some pictures of them one of these days.

There are several sys 80b machines that I would like to have, seems like they are shunned by the majority of pinball owners. Good for us though :O)

Poor, unhappy Volcano, no get love/attention.

#167 5 years ago

I miss my system 1 Countdown. If I found one in excellent condition I would definitely add it back to my collection

#168 5 years ago

I have a Haunted House that has seen better days. I am in the process of "fixing-her-up", but I need backglass. Does anyone know a source?

#169 5 years ago

maybe someone here knows where I can find a translite for my 1989 Gottlieb Hot Shots.

#170 5 years ago

I know this information won't help you now when you need it, but over 10 years ago, there were a lot of Haunted House glasses floating around for sale and people were buying them up left and right to use as wall art. I bought one and sold my scratched one at that time.

I've seen a lot of requests lately for that glass. IIRC, a run of them was made without permission a few years ago and some got away/sold. No idea who got one. The problem with the last run (and why I didn't buy one as a spare) was that it was visually quite a bit different (side by side) from the original with the colors and shading (but anything is better than nothing when you have the latter I guess). The 4 color process makes this glass difficult to do for a good match. Seems like a good candidate for a remake to me though, perhaps a petition for a run has been started at Shay. I'd start there.

yeah, he needs some boards...

I'm starting to miss playing it already

#172 5 years ago

@Gerry...great lineup...you need to put a Volcano next to BH, HH, TimeLine, and MGOW. That was my thought...to put all of the games with active backglass controlled lamps next to eachother. I still plan to do it, but TimeLine got away.

That Volcano was mine, if I knew you were going to neglect it like that I wouldn't have sold it to ya!

#174 5 years ago

Big House really grew on me when I had one in for repair. Fun game.
CounterForce I love!
I'd love to spend some time with a Devil's Dare, but never have found one.
I had a Force II for a while and found it pretty dull.
Star Race...I see it has it's fans. Those sounds...

Very nice collection of Gottliebs Gerry!

Can I join the club? I saved a 'sexy but dirty' Genie: http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/tonight-i-picked-up-a-sexy-but-dirty-genie

...and I highly recommend the Pascal PI-1x4 board. It's one board that replaces the MPU, Driver and power boards, plus it also adds a ton of new features. http://www.flippp.fr/pi1x4.php

Devils Dare is surely one of my favorites for sure... If you can score one dont hesitate, its worth every penny..

I Found force II to be that way too at first, but after a whole pile of tweaking, stripping and buffing the PF, using my secret wax, fresh PBR white rubbers tentioned perfectly, throwing some pitch to it, and making the slings super sensitive, flipper rebuilds, and tweaking the EOS switches, its an ass kicker now.. it used to be too easy to roll over, but now it has very short ball times, and has become kinda brutal...

Big House is nothin but fun, simple ruleset, but challenging none the less...the music rocks and the game is just a trip to play...its a GREAT head to head game...

Your in dude ....

Genie is cool, especially tweaked, and with a powerball....

#180 5 years ago

Wow Gerry, what a great collection. You DO get the nomination for club president!

#181 5 years ago

Here's a glamour shot of a few of my S80 games. I don't have my RoboWar in line yet. It's downstairs now with HH (in rehab), Counterforce (also in rehab), MGOW, and Spiderman. Bad Girls is (gack!) in the garage. I really should install the pristine Volcano inner BG that I have.

I LOVE my Bad Girls, its the game my bud and i play the most of while in front of the 80B line up, followed by Robo-War...

We play them all a ton, but BG's gets alot of love.. theres alot going on in that game, and its all fun..

I dont think there's a NON-satisfying shot in the whole game...

#183 5 years ago

Bad Girls will be getting some love today, as will all my 80B's

#184 5 years ago

LOL. Another unhappy Volcano get no love/attention (player 2 display).

Ya...it's just dim. Nothing that a few hours on won't cure (or the "bright up" procedure).
If you look close, you can also see the ball lodged in the left inlane, unable to hop over the broken rubber laying there that snapped the last time I had it on.

#189 5 years ago

Anyone pulled playfield mylar from an 80B? I've got a Hollywood Heat I am considering doing this to, it's not terrible, but would be so much cleaner with it removed!
Any horror or success stories?

#190 5 years ago

I have never had an 80B lift yet, but my PF's were in pretty nice shape, not planked ETC...

some use Freeze spray, but i generaly use heat, and peel it up folded back against itself...and incorperating some goo-gone in the mix... i have had really good luck with little to NO artwork loss, reguardless of the manufacturer .

Cool thanks Gerry!

Also if anyone out there has a line on Hollywood Heat plastics, I'm in the market for a few of them - most notably the large one over the right side drops.

James Bond is amazingly fun, and the timed mode really levels out the games with multiple people playing, if you can find one grad it haven't seen many come up for sale.

Nice...
I really like how the ramps do NOT feed back into the flippers. Nothing easy-mode going on in this game. Looks like a fight from start to finish.

"Tell us more about this story, were you there when the guy was getting ready to pitch it off the back of his truck?

its amazing that you were able tyo not that one slip through the cracks...

CF is a GREAT game.. i love mine"

I wasn't there, but got a call from a buddy that knew I had started collecting pinball machines. He stopped them from flipping it off the back tailgate of a pickup truck and moved it to a covered shed. He said they had the manuals and a box of spare parts, but they somehow lost them by the time I got there. The game itself had two blown fuses and is dirty as heck. I replaced the fuses in the driveway and fired it up. I decided to try it outside, just in case it caught fire or something. I played a couple of games and ended up with a flock of neighborhood kids playing it. It appeared everything worked on it, drop targets and all. I actually went to bed and could still hear the kids playing it. To my surprise, it was still there the next morning. I moved it into the garage, pulled the backglass,(took it inside), covered it with a blanket, and promptly moved to a new job in Wichita, 405 miles away.. The thing is still in the garage in Foristell. I'll clip the battery out of it the next time I return home. I did look to see if it had the ground mod on it, it doesn't. It deserves a restore, but I don't know if it will be by me. At least I rescued it.
