i happen to own a PinballSP DMD and i`m happy with it as it is. ( i had a PIN2DMD previously, and that was a buggy fellow)
All in all its a nice, plug n play upgrade from the original orange DMD, and when the colorsoftware comes, its gonna be a great bonus to great piece of hardware
And btw, PinballSP`s DMD is not "colorless" like you say, thats simply not true....
