Testing the Hologram Kit on my desk, with an original Bally/Williams CPU and a DMD.
In general, it works fine, but I have detected a problem with the triggering of the "Creature Found" video, this and other videos are triggered with signals from the CPU. The rest of the videos of animations tested are triggered with switches on the playfield, and these work perfectly, the Kiss, Hotdog, Ice Cream, Cola and Pop Corn. The background videos (Bubbles and RITA boat) are also played correctly, these are automatically triggered if there are no other videos being played, the selected videos are played sequentially.
In this video, I have not put the two animations that are shown when starting the Kit, with the Logo of the company and the check, in 12 steps, of the system. For the tests, I find it much faster to skip these videos every time I start the software, I forgot to put them to make the video, but they are tested and work without problems.
Today I was trying to locate the problem and decided to make a modification in the design of the kit board, replacing one of the chips. The problem now is the Chinese and their coronavirus, all are delaying the return of their vacation, for this reason. All my supply of electronic boards, screens, cables, and connectors depends on Chinese suppliers. I think in one week I will have here the modified board with the new chip.
If not for this failure, the product would already be ready to be installed on a complete Creature machine and record a video of the product in play. My friend Orlando from STRPinball is waiting for the kit to install, test it and take pictures and videos of the installation and the product in playing on a Creature, I also need those photos for the user manual.
As for the firmware, I think I can include the Snack Bar video in this first firmware version, the animation is already finished, I just need to program the video trigger in the firmware. Like that of the "Creature Found" it is triggered with signals from the CPU, in this case with the lamp that indicates the "Snack Bar open".
I have programmed the firmware so that one video cannot interrupt another until at least 2 seconds have elapsed from the video being played, I think it is the best thing to avoid that multiple triggers in a short time can trigger many videos quickly, not I think it would be nice, although this parameter could also be put in a configuration file and that each user puts it according to their preferences.
