Have you tried reseating the connectors while the power's off? For that matter, how do the connectors look? From what I understand, all kinds of weird issues can be resolved on System 80B games just by taking a connector off and putting it back on, provided it's still in good shape. Heck, I solved weird display issues on my game a couple times by doing exactly that, though I've also been told fiddling with the connectors can have the exact opposite effect, creating problems where none existed, but given that a whole bunch of things happened all at once which don't seem directly related, my first guess would be a connector.
Are you able to identify exactly which lights are on bright? Hollywood Heat uses a combination of mostly #44s and a few #67s. The #44s aren't very bright but the #67s are as they're normally intended to just flash briefly with this game, not stay on continually. If some of the really bright lights are #44s and are coming on much brighter than they're supposed to, that would suggest a short as that could only happen if the bulb was getting more voltage than it's supposed to. Actually, even if the brightness is normal, bulbs or other parts locking on can still be caused by shorts along the same voltage line, though could also be caused by bad transistors. I haven't run into these issues with my game so I don't know how to diagnose or fix them, though there are documents you can look up online, such as those at www.pinwiki.com , which can help step you through some things.
As for the manual, if you don't own a physical copy you really ought to buy one. They're only $20 at Marco: http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/DOC1306
Having a physical copy of the manual on hand for any game you own is invaluable. As far as digital copies are concerned, I don't yet have one to share. Sorry. : /
