Quoted from pins4fun:

If necessary, doing the clear coat direct print cabinets internally (JJP) should be given ample consideration.

Those printers cost $200,000 and can only be serviced by a factory reps for $$$$$ (let alone the cost of consumables)

JJP would never get their money out of making ~500 games a year.

Quoted from riverinapinball:

100,000 is $100 each on 1000 machines. Not that expensive.

Except when the whole license for the game is $25.

Quoted from metallik:

Assuming Trumpers are test only and did not get tornadoed to Middle Earth.

It would be cool if they used them in every game.

Better than cows?

Quoted from DarkWizard:

The upswing to this is, when you beat your wife

There are strict guidelines concerning this

Quoted from HENSBROOKER:

. I got to think how great it would be if Smaug could really speak and interact with the player. Like it can talk and move it's head.

That would be badassed; like the skull in Bone Busters !

Will the pin be shipping on the same day that The Battle Of The Five Armies premiers, or will it be allowed to ship earlier?

Quoted from Jamaster10:

Heres my update on Hobbit. I shot the whitewood last week. Bad Ass Game
And Don't even Ask, the answer is no on info!!!

This game "is under contract" that it has to be out by Dec, and they are still working on whitewoods????

Quoted from Aurich:

I tuned in the other day, was on HBO and I just started watching it from the beginning (seen all three in the theater). I literally got bored half way through the barrel scene and changed the channel. Just so long and drawn out

The Hobbit was my favorite book of the 4, but honestly, I can't seem to get up the motivation to watch that last movie.

The LOTR movies OTOH were great.

Quoted from guyincognito:

Why come there has never been a Dances With The Wolves pinball?

There was. Avatar.

#8159 4 years ago
Quoted from benheck:

Avatar is more of a Ferngully: The Last Rainforest ripoff, just not enough people have seen or remember that movie to notice.

I never even heard of it.

But Dances/Avatar both seem to be the exact same movie except for the naked blue chicks.

Quoted from Tharizdun:

I went to the factory and I feel very confident these games will roll off the assembly line before "The Hobbit" gets remade in the next 20 years or whatever…

Aren't we getting a Hobbit reboot right after Spiderman next year?

Quoted from Purpledrilmonkey:

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the pre-order pinball model start with JJP?

It started with IPB in 2004

Quoted from rai:

I'd hope Jack doesn't do anything in poor taste like selling standard editions to walk in customers while pre-orders are still waiting for their games, but that'd never happen with a classy guy like Jack.

He had to do that to keep the doors open with the new money.

Super sucky move if you were stuck waiting, but you have to hand it to Jack, he knows how to hold his head above water.

#8857 4 years ago
Quoted from rai:

It'd be possible that Stern will deliver the next pin or two before some pre-orders get their Hobbit.

I'll stick my cock out and say 4 more Sterns get delivered before everyone gets their Hobbit.

#8860 4 years ago
Quoted from wtatumjr:

Funny, but I find all the Stern games mentioned to be somewhat dated. I'd rather wait for a really great innovative game.

All conventional pinball is super dated. Stern and JJP included.

Pin2000 was a real innovation, but that was almost 20 years ago (the patents run out next year).

The closest thing we have to innovation is Multimorphic P3. If you have played that, your mind explodes with possibilities.

#8863 4 years ago
Quoted from Pinterest:

I found The Hobbit to be one of the most beautifully engineered machines.

Obviously, I've only played the prototype, but it seems fun.

#8889 4 years ago
Quoted from fosaisu:

having at least a few Hobbits delivered before Christmas would probably make all of the pre-order folks feel much happier.

That's what everyone said last year, too.

Realistically, I bet I don't see my game for another year.

#8925 4 years ago

C'mon guys, no one is getting their games this year.

We went through this exact same thing last year in November.

#8931 4 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Well if the rumor of tomorrow is true that is the best pinball news I've heard in awhile.

Only pinsiders would call the news of some empty playfields being delivered to the warehouse, over a year after the game was supposed to be shipped to customers "best pinball news", lol.

Jack said that the standards got to jump in line "for the good of pinball".

Quoted from SadSack:

The clowns with "inside information" are always the ones to take the best ass-raping.

That's what Jen told me.

#9314 3 years ago

It's not really fair to compare Stern with hundreds of employees hustling and heating up the place (and 32 microwave ovens in the lunchroom) , but here are t-shirts in November:

Quoted from xbloodgreenx:

They probably have the flipper power notched down since it's on location, and slightly less pitch, to lower the chance to cause breaks with all the plays it will get.

It would probably be better PR to just put a spare set of plastics inside the cab and let the game rip some ass.

Quoted from emkay:

My wife walked away, shrugged and said "Maybe I just don't like widebody machines..." Which sucks, because I'd like an Embryon and at least one of Heighway's offerings.

Let your wife play Stern Big Game and she will see how fast a widebody can be!

#9429 3 years ago
Quoted from TomGWI:

Cough...that's a Big Game.....Cough

LOL, too many windows open.......

#9431 3 years ago
Quoted from emkay:

She's obsessed with EBD right now

She's got good taste.

EBD is better than most DMD games.
