If they increase the price on The Hobbit it will make my decision between it and Game of Thrones that much easier.
Quoted from PinballSTAR:Standard $ 8,000
Limited Edition $ 8,500
Smaug Gold Special Edition $ 9,000
I was really contemplating getting The Hobbit...
Not sure why but that 9,000 price tag really turns me off to the whole project (and pinball in general) and makes 8k even seem ridiculous.
Anyone else think JJP is going to hit a wall with this 9k price tag?
Game of Thrones here I come!
Quoted from benheck:Avatar is more of a Ferngully: The Last Rainforest ripoff, just not enough people have seen or remember that movie to notice.
Actually its a Pocahontas ripoff. Pretty bad too. John Smith=John Sully. Pocahontas=Neytini who happens to be a chiefs daughter. Instead of looking for gold they are looking for Unobtanium.
Thought for the 3rd flipper. What if the drop targets only counted when they were hit from the upper flipper? So if you hit them from the lower flippers they pop right back up and give you a very small score. But if you feed the upper flipper from the left orbit the drops stay down. Thoughts?
edit: might be tough to calculate timing difference between upper flipper as opposed to left orbit to bottom flipper.
Quoted from PaulCoff:Joe Balcer talked about this at the Heighway party. Check out Pinballnews for the audio.

I'm at work, it's Friday, and I drank too much last night. Can you post a more specific link so I don't have to dig for it?
Quoted from Aurich:Short version: Balcer wanted to make upper flippers required for some shots. They discovered it was just too hard to tell when the upper flipper made the shots and abandoned the idea.
It looks like the drop targets are too easy to hit and really no risk involved in them. They shouldn't abandon the idea. Maybe upper/lower flipper doesn't matter but you could still force the left orbit first to make it more challenging.
Quoted from lowepg:I'm predicting we're going to see a healthy bump in the selling price.
Man I hope not. The prices (of all pinball machines) are stupid crazy already.
I personally like GOT better than The Hobbit from a theme standpoint. But there's no arguing that JJP did a better job of incorporating that theme into their pinball machine. They are making a compelling case for my next pin purchase. If only they hadn't hiked the price up $500 recently. That really ticked me off. And I don't believe they allow distributors to go lower than MSRP, is that correct?
