Have got a loud groaning sound coming from the shaker on my Hobbit, it seems to be working well enough but dosent sound well. I noticed one of the playfiled legs had been pressing on the cover so I removed it but the sound is still there. Anything I should do to service it?

Make sure the weights are on tight. The brushes could be worn depending on how old it is but I wouldn't think so. Tighten down all four screws that hold it to the cabinet and look underneath to make sure the T-nuts are anchored down.

I'd be groaning too if I was stuck in a hobbit.
