I have a Black Arrow on a boat shipping to the UK as we speak, so definitely still in production.

Just got BNIB Black Arrow, here in the UK.
It appears to have some horrible electrical interference all over the audio.
Is this a common fault?
What can be done about it?
Beautiful machine, but being spoiled by the "noise" on the audio

Does this go inside the silver box between the MOBO and the sound card?

#5976 5 years ago

Do changes of settings take effect immediately, or do you have to cycle the power to the machine.

#5981 5 years ago
Quoted from pinballinreno:

You should cycle power after the installation after it reboots and comes up as 3.0
Its not mandatory, but its good practice to test the install to make sure its booting properly.

I mean when you change any settings, like coil settings. Not after an update.
Thanks

Does anyone’s Hobbit have different pitch readings throughout the playfield?
Just got a new Black Arrow and when I try and set the pitch up correctly I get a variation of 0.5 - 0.8 degrees between the flippers and the top of the playfield.
Is this normal?

If it is, what reading do I take to be the pitch of my PF?

#6009 5 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Between the flippers

So are you saying the variation between front and back is normal?

#6011 5 years ago

Using Pin Guy.
But proved Pin Guy to be ok by using a different app on another phone and also by using on the pf glass. This stays at a constant pitch on the glass as you would expect.

How often do I need to polish my new Hobbit BA?.
Its now had around 400 plays.
Thanks

#6052 5 years ago
Quoted from pinballinreno:

Right about now it should be waxed and the balls replaced.

What's the best way to do this? Does it need cleaning with anything first and what products do i use to clean and was.
Very new to all this.
Thanks

In the last 2 days I’ve had 2 faults. I think 1 is known about and will be resolved in the new code update, but not sure if the other is known.
1. Entered Smaug Multiball and it crashed the machine completely. Rebooted and brought up a Tilt Bob #D27 error. Nothing wrong with this at all.
2. Sat at about 800,000 in Smaug Multiball, killed Smaug and got the correct video sequence etc, flippers went dead as usual, but then it just continued to play the music, nothing else happened. The flippers never reactivated, it didn’t send a ball into the shooter lane.
I waited and waited, couldn’t even get it to register a tilt, so ended up rebooting the machine.
Is this one known about?

Quoted from pinballinreno:

I think its just another smaug multiball crash.
very annoying.
I will have to turn off my game this year for the xmas party, or revert back to earlier code.

You never know JJP May release an update as a Christmas present for us

Anything I can use to remove the ball trails from the ramps?

I’ve only had it happen once in approx 80 multiballs, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

It’s ridiculous that they are still sending out NIB Black Arrows without a ground loop isolator, when it is a known issue.
All the people I know in the UK, including myself, who have bought one, have then had to buy a GLI from a 3rd party.
Pretty poor IMO.

Really love my Hobbit, but wondering if the playfield is as it should be.
With the glass off, if I allow a ball to roll from the base of the ramps down to the flippers, how much deflection should I get from the mech covers and the rollovers?
Both seem to be giving me quite a bit of deflection.
I have my pitch at 6.5 between the flippers, which gives me about 7.2 at the ramps and my flipper coils are set at 19.

Is there a way to test the Beast spotlights?
My right upper spotlight is flashing all the time, but I can't see anything in the menu that lets me test the spotlights?
Can these LEDs be changed or do you have to change the assembly, as the LEDs in my spots appear to be siliconed in.

Is there a setting to prevent you progressing to the next wizard mode until you have finished the current one.
I’d really like to finish one of the wizard modes, but usually get to the 4th level of ITF and then drain. If I then qualify for another wizard mode I’m then onto BE without completing ITF.

#6818 5 years ago

I’ve seen people say they have got to play the wizard modes more than once. Do they cycle around again, if you can last that long? And if they do, do they continue from where you left off, like Smaug MB does?

Quoted from SeymorGoldfarbJr:

The highest difficulty of the mode you complete (1-star to 5-stars), changes the multiplier you are awarded for your entire mini wizard mode score. I don't remember the exact values, but it's something like 1-star is a 0.5X multiplier up to 5-stars which is a 3X or 4X multiplier. That makes a huge difference on the points you get for the mini wizard mode.
Sure, you can complete a 1-star mode and quickly start Into the Fire, but the points you get in return are not worth it. It's much better to wait until you have a 4 or 5 star mode completed before you start the wizard mode.

Does it work on the highest star mode completed? So if you have completed 3 1 star mode and 1 4 star mode, it multiplies by the 4 star mode multiplier?

Unscrew from the bottom of the playfield.
Have you adjusted the leaf blade switches to lower the part sticking up too high above the playfield ?

Is this a simple thing to do?

Has anyone had this happen to their book?

Thanks
