Hey everyone,
Just added a Hobbit Smaug Gold Edition to the collection.
It has the center post installed but in looking in the coin box, the little rubber piece that fills the hole if you remove the post is gone.
Any suggestions on how to fill the hole if I remove the post?

Can't seem to find the part on the JJP website...
Thanks!

Sorry if I’m being too lazy to search this issue in the forum thread but in playing the game today, the orc pop up started to struggle to operate while I was playing...
I’ve already had to fix/replace a spring on a drop target on the machine so I thought it may be something similar but when I ran a test on the target, the coil really struggled to raise the orc.
Am I in for some major surgery here?

It’s a Smaug Gold edition machine manufactured in July 2016...

Appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

Finally circling back to fixing this... Tried the suggestions and it had no effect. I removed the Orc and tried to see if it was getting caught on anything...
Based upon the video below, does the coil need replacing?

Kinda stuck on what to do next...

Thanks for the help!
Steve

Quoted from LTG:

First thing is see if it's binding on the hole in the playfield going up. If it moves up and down freely. Next step is to loosen the nut at the bottom of the assembly and the rubber stopper looking thing on the other side of the nut, turn it and raise the mech up a bit. Retighten the nut and try it then.

Wouldn’t the coil move the Orc all the way up?
The coil sleeve has wear marks but is clean. When I move the target up and down manually, it moves freely.
Switches seem fine but not quite sure what to check there...
Attached are a few photos if that helps...
Thanks for the assist here! Hope to get it working... first time doing some surgery here...

Quoted from pinballinreno:

Coil seems to work.
Does it move freely, no binding?
Plunger mushroomed and needs filing?
Coil sleeve dirty?
Maybe switches disconnected or need adjustment.

Appreciate all the advice here...
I put some cardboard between the head switch and reconnected it to power to test.
Still the same behavior.
I tried plugging it into power for a properly working mech and still the same behavior.
I've tried engaging and disengaging all of the switches I could find and testing it further and it still simply won't raise the orc head.

At this point I've reached out to JJP support to see if they have any ideas or if I need to purchase a new orc mech.

Appreciate all the help... if there are any other ideas, let me know! Would love to get Hobbit back up and running!

Thanks.

Quoted from pinballinreno:

Yes.
If the head switch engages the mech will immediately drop.
I'd look at that first, or a shorted wire.

I’ve posted on here before (#7443) but after I thought I had it fixed it seems as though the Goblin mech on my game continues to struggle to pop up on the play field... after taking it apart, it seems that it is not the mechanism, but for some reason it is getting stuck on the playfield itself as it is trying to move up.... I take the glass off, bend it back into place and it seems to work for a few games. But after the balls hit the mech a few times it seems to bend it back and then won’t raise...
Short of me having to manually bend and adjust it every time, are there any other suggestions here?

Thanks!

Good idea. I'll give that a try. Thanks.

Quoted from rgzpinx:

Mine acted the same. I finally added a little lithium grease to the metal frame slides. I think it was binding causing it to shift a bit. 100% since.
