Just joined the club! Got an LE the jjp update has not been done to it. The game came with a playfield protector and after 4 years was all sorts of hazy and nasty. I cut it off with a Scissors tonight and game plays fast now only issue is the beast Mech are now an 1/8” higher because of playfield protector. Any way to adjust the height of beast mechs so they lay flat? Also, my lock buttons seem very high and are causing ball to skip now.

Thanks LTG! I’ll fix tomorrow What about the green lock buttons? The ramp jumps hard when it hits them as well.

Quoted from LTG:

Bottom of the mech loosen a nut and turn the rubber stopper down and retighten.

Quoted from Goronic:

Also, there are protectors on the L O C K rollovers - you can remove them and it should fix that issue

Where are the protectors. Do they just pop off? Snap off? Twist? Sorry. My first jjp game. I must say... being a current owner of games like ghostbusters. Totan. Indiana Jones Williams, I have myself second guessing my collection and wondering why I don’t have more jjp games. Simply awesome.

Quoted from Goronic:

JJP pins are quite impressive to play! Also, the disks can be removed by getting a fingernail under them and pulling them off. Then clean the remaining stickiness that is left are removing the mylar. The rollovers will be much smoother to roll over, be brighter, and prevent a lot of air balls.

That’s worked perfectly. Game is playing amazing tonight! Got to first wizard mode into the fire and got to stage 2 890,000 points or so. I’m new to this game so every time I play its something new. Only issue currently is the back middle captive ball switch doesn’t register very easily. So I assume it’s probably just a switch adjustment.

What a blast however! Amazing game.

Quoted from pcprogrammer:

Question for Hobbit owners. I have always hesitated purchasing this pin because of the excessive ball times, especially if you really want to get deep into the code. I have played the pin on location many times and the games I played lasted much longer then any other pin. I know you can set up the pin at a steeper angle and take out the center post. Is there a way to adjust the code in the settings to make it easier to get deeper into the code? Instead of taking 45 minutes to kill Smaug, can you change something to make it easier? It doesn't make sense as a solve to just physically adjust the game at a greater angle and take out the center post if that means you'll never get deep into the code as a result. Sure, you'll have shorter games but you'll never get to experience anything?

My favorite event in all the games in my collection is the hobbits mini wizard modes. I can typically get to one within every 3 or 4 games if I try. Sometimes 2 of them. It’s something about them... there is different stages.. the music.. the callouts... it just gets your blood pumping.

I also find it so much fun to kill Smaug, you can do it in a single multiball if your really talented. A lot easier than people make it out to be. The hardest part is actually killing him. Shooting between the upper left drops is a pain. But getting there is a blast and attempting that shot is a nail Biter. It’s probably my most played pin in my collection currently for those reasons.

A friend of mine said you can adjust the difficulty for killing Smaug. Have not played with that however.

My opinion, grab one!

This is neat. I don’t even remember the ball being able to go towards the out lane. It’s always just fell back towards flippers. I’d be interested in seeing how the game play dynamic changes. It would make killing smog easier with a nice feed towards that flipper

Quoted from Travahontas:

Hey fellow Hobbitses...
I developed a mod to address a pet peeve of mine with the layout of this game. I really get tired of 1. not using the third flipper much, and 2. draining from rejects or dribbles out of the pop bumpers. I've always felt like there should have been a gate at the entrance of Bag End, but it's just missing. So I made a gate
Is this something anyone but me is interested in?
