Joined the club recently and my game had code 1.31.
Upgraded to 1.90 today. My scores seem to be better with the new code.
What are you guys seeing for differences in code? Apologies for discussing something that has already been discussed.

Here is the 1.90 change log:

+ Addition * Change/bugfix - Note
==============================================================================
== Version 1.90 ==
==============================================================================
=== Known Issues
- Note that Headphone Volume doesn't work for Hobbit; it was meant to be
suppressed. The software has no idea if headphones are plugged in or not
on Hobbit, so we have to use the normal volume.
=== Game Code
* Added safety check for mode starts.
+ Mode/map bonuses.
- At the end of each mode, you can earn up to 3 different kinds of bonuses:
1. Timer Bonus (not shown on total screen right now): Each second you
have left when you win a mode gets added to MULTIPLIABLE bonus.
The points earned are 1+2+3... for each second you have remaining.
2. Map Bonus: If the map is beyond where the mode takes place, you
earn +25% mode total in unmultiplied end-of-ball bonus. For each
completion of the map (got to super spinner), you get an additional
+50% added.
3. Previous Mode Bonus: Each mode now has a completion percent
associated with it (shown on grand total page). Each mode can have
0-3 "feeder" mode associated with it. For each feeder mode, you
earn a percentage bonus based on the total completion percentage of
the feeder modes. Each feeder mode is displayed on the grand total
page, dim if you haven't played the feeder, and solid if you have.
Good luck finding some good feeder combinations! All of the feeders
"make sense" (at least to me) in terms of how they relate to future
covered modes, so some can probably be guessed pretty easily.
+ Broken beast compensation. If a beast isn't coming up, then shots behind
each beast will count towards hitting the beast. The relevant switches
are the left and right spinners, and the left and right ramp entrances.
* Changed spinner scoring.
* Bonus reformatted to take new items into account.
* Fixed a relatively rare crash bug on a mode shot.
+ Smaug death fanfare.
* Fixed super spinner scoring bug (each spin scored twice intended).
* Super spinner timer remaining adds to timer bonus.
* Feast Frenzy timer remaining adds 3x to timer bonus.
* Fix Moon Runes not showing grand total screen properly.
* Add card reader movies to attract mode.
+ Volume effects. If you don't like these, note the adjustments in
Settings->System Settings->Sound.
* All book modes have been score balanced a lot better than they were.
There were a lot of winners (like Rescue Gandalf and Defeat of Azog) and
some losers (Roast Mutton).
+ Battle of Five Armies.
+ Black Arrow support.
=== Core Code
* Fixed an extremely rare crash bug (r1159).
* Fix label on coil test enter button.
* Fix tilt logic that was giving about a half second less of plumb bob
debounce time than expected.
* Bulletproof ball roll tilt detection.
* Fix Match bug where turning off match still gave a 10% chance of matching.
=== OS
* Fix update routine that stopped update screen from showing after 30s.
* Added missing "update complete" screen.
Quoted from Phbooms:i do wish somebody made side blades that actually look good and fit the theme and decals that look right for the stand up bare targets
The game does sometimes say shoot yellow targets, so if you did put decals on them I would recommend it make heavy use of yellow. But it could have cool design overlay graphics or what I would like is the dwarven letter equivalent for the letter for the dwarf drops, elf equivalent for the elf drops and man drops to be cursive. That way it would still 'spell' dwarf, elf, and man when dropped
But to make it simple they all could be the same decal with a cool graphic or pattern on them
I used these LOTR side blades and for me they look great. The photos might not capture them perfectly but they look like they came from the factory. They are made by pinsider sillyoldelf
Quoted from Squall:Yesterday I killed Smaug and get all wizard modes. Do you have any idea what is after finishing all modes? What is after completing on 100% all wizard modes? Cause I'm worried little bit about lastability of Hobbit (I hope it won't be too boring)
Im worried also with the present code. Whats the point of 32 modes if you only need to complete 1 for each ruin stone to get to the wizard modes. Also no final wizard mode after Battle of 5 armies is a bummer. I also dont like that its the same shot setup to get to each wizard mode, sorta boring after you pass into the fire. Game needs some major polish and changes cause presently its got alot of code but its not as well put together as LOTR's code.
A few things that i would change is increase the difficulty to get the ruin stones after each wizard mode-
So after ITF you would need to beat 5 modes to get the mode ruin stone for BE and 10 modes complete to get the ruin stone for BOTFA.
Start smaug mball 2x for BE ruin and have to kill smaug to get BOTFA ruin.
Make it so have to collect all the dwarfs in feast frenzy and a different song sung by dwarfs during feast frenzy for the barrel escape stone and different song for BOTFA stone.
Also for the Beast frenzy make it beatable with super jackpots for each beast after so many hits on each with the amount of hits required increasing for each ruin stone, so 5 hits each for ITF ruin, 10 each for BE ruin, and 20 hits each for BOTFA ruin stone.
To make the 32 modes more interesting part of the game besides needing to beat 1 to get to each of the wizard modes which i find a total waste of all the badass modes this game has im not really sure what can be done. Maybe divide them up by movie and after you beat each movies modes a mini wizard end of each movie mode starts or a victory lap mball for completing each movies modes. A final after beat all the modes wizard mode needs added also to tie the mode part of the game all together. Im sure theres better ideas to better utilize the modes then that but presently there just filler and should be the other half of the game cause right now it just feels like theres only 3 wizard modes and kill smaug to work towards.
Smaug mball is great the way it is i have no issues with it.
These are just quick ideas and im sure theres much better ideas but in its present form the code is sorta weak in my opinion, deep but weak. Its to repetitive and the modes are very under utilized. I made it to BOTFA in first week i owned it and compared to LOTR its just to easy in its present form.

It sorta gets tougher as you go. Tougher to light lock and tougher to light beasts. If you find it too easy crank the difficulty of those up. It gets really tough when every touch of a lock button toggles it lit/unlit.
Pretty much the same exact post as the others above. Had a monster game. Beat Smaug and made it to the Battle of the Five Armies. My High score by far! Love the game, but need to iron out minor issues in ball trough, sounds cutting, and also Goblin pop up seeming "gummy" going up and down. Lloyd will guide me
Smaug Bust Topper finally mounted! The small color changing LED spotlight on the right has red, green, blue, white, orange, yellow, cyan, & purple programmable colors with flash, jump, fade, speed, & brightness settings. Behind Gollum, I mounted a Beatmaster"s barrel spotlight with an orange 906 LED to illuminate the left & under sides of Smaug. The photos don't do it justice.

Wow, awesome score! Just curious, is your game set to 3 ball and did you add extra balls to be granted with certain actions. Asking as I haven't beat Smaug MB and have only gotten to 1 of the wizard modes. I could just suck too, lol.
I did hear that a super wizard mode for beating everything is still coming. However, I think The Hobbit greatly needs some type of mode rewarded for beating the sets of man, dwarf and elf book modes.

Factory setting 3 balls game with 3 extra balls
Quoted from ccbiggsoo7:any ideas when new code is coming out? Rumor has it, its finished!
Finished with the next update? I kept hearing rumors about two more updates. Its been a couple months since the last update so hopefully soon.
Hoping for...
1. Wizard mode for beating everything
2. Mode / reward for beating the sets of the man, elf and dwarf book modes
3. More Smaug callouts
4. Ability to turn off Beast, Feast and Smaug multiball stacking
BEATMASTER'S BARREL SPOTLIGHTS INSTALLED!
Bob's mods are professionally made and assembled. The barrel spotlights are plug & play (just the same as the four black PF spotlights) with 2-pin female Molex connectors included, without the crimp type male terminals inserted. They really add to the theme of the PF. They cost approx. $50 per set (2 barrels/set) + shipping, so you need to order 2 sets (total of 4). When you order, tell Bob that they are for the Hobbit: He makes the wire leads the correct length to reach the male Molex connector ends under the PF.
You will also need to purchase 1/4" hex post spacers, m-f, 8-32 thread, to elevate the barrels above the wire form runways: 1" length for left lower spotlight, 1" length for right lower spotlight, & 2" length for right upper spotlight (here, I combined two 1" length spacers because I had them on hand). Marco Specialties have the spacers in stalk. The base posts to which you add the spacers are 3/16" hex. I used the 1/4" spacer on top because I think it looks better. Besides, the base post of the right upper spotlight in my machine is 1/4". After the photos were taken, I added an 1/2" spacer to the left upper spotlight. There is a better fit of the barrel next to the wire cage.
INSTALLATION NOTES: You only need to raise the PF up on it's skids. Pull it out far enough to gain access to the left upper spotlight (that's almost all the way). You DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE any playfield plastics. The original spotlights have their leads wrapped in a black net-like nylon sheath, making it easy to identify leads under the PF. The left upper spotlight is a piece of cake. Clip the necessary ties above & below the PF, unplug Molex connection under PF, remove spotlight with attached female Molex end, and set aside/discard. Now install barrel spotlight, insert male terminal ends into the supplied female Molex end, connect to male Molex end under PF, and replace ties.
The three remaining spotlights are a little more difficult because their leads go under the PF plastics variable distances. Clip necessary ties above & below PF, tease out nylon net sheaths from the bundles of wires under PF, unplug Molex connection under PF, and remove female Molex from the end of the spotlight leads (push out male terminal ends if you have the necessary tool, or clip off Molex connector with wire cuter). The connector has to be removed to pull spotlight leads up through the PF holes & under PF plastics. Before you pull the spotlights out, attach a string to the end of the leads with electrician tape. Pull spotlights out slowly. The attached string is now used to guide the leads of the barrel lights back under the plastics & through the PF holes. Do so slowly. It may take some jiggling. Now insert male terminal ends into the supplied female Molex end, connect to male Molex end under PF, and replace ties.

I've had the game about 3 weeks, I think its the cats a_ . The problem is you guys are too good. I feel very fortunate to own and play this pin. Looking forward to killing Smaug, and getting to Barrel escape, I'm just not that good of a player.
Love it. Also zero QC issues, plays great, couldn't ask for more.
The original PF spotlights and the replaced Beatmaster's barrel spotlights are 12v. In above post, I used WHITE 906 LEDs.

Thanks for the detailed instructions! I received a set of my barrels and was about to try to see how I can make them fit without taking away too much of the site lines to the targets. I think your way will lift them up enough for that. Do the lights still shine on the beasts ok? Or is that why you got the different bulbs ... brighter to go farther for the same lighting effect? Most of the light on the beasts comes from under the play field and through the plastic "fix" in front of them anyhow. If I like how the first set works out and look at all the 4 locations, I might buy another set. Great looking accent mod from beatmaster !
I have a prototype Hobbit themed pincup coming soon from modfather too. I will post pics of it on my machine for him when I get it in the next week or two. Watch for that as it "may" add to the barrel accent looks too (TBD).

The two lower barrel spotlights are aimed at the "O" & "C" in the center of the PF. The right upper spotlight is aimed at the upper beasts. With the 12V white 906 LED, the beasts are well illuminated as well as the entire PF. The left upper spotlight is aimed towards Smaug as far as possible. If you aim it @ the upper beasts, you get an irritating glare/bright light at the mod LED itself & on the PF. This is also why the lower spotlights are not aimed directly @ the beasts, but @ the "O" & "C".
With the barrel positions, there is no interference of "site lines to ALL targets".
Hobbit Figures (Thorin, Bilbo, Grinnah, & Gollum) Installed. Thorin is a 6" collector figure, Bilbo is a 4" collector figure, & Grinnah is a 3.75" action figure sold on Amazon. Gollum was purchased from modfatherpinball.com. I searched everywhere for a good Gollum figure and finally found Modfather's site. They also have quality Thorin & Bilbo figures, but I had already purchased the other figures. The Modfather's Gollum is attached to the PF with a screwed metal tab so it appears suspended over the ball through alley. The other figures are affixed to PF plastics with applied Glue Dots to feet.

just shoot me a pm, i'll put you on my list.
thanks, bob.

I agree. My dwarf Thorin is on Hobbit steroids. It measures 5" tall, not 6". Even though it's a beauty, it's too tall. I'm in the process of acquiring a shorter version of similar quality/detail.

Now that I've remembered to check the pdf again, both right! Now I'm more confused though. How are these axes considered spares when the ones on the slingshots are metal with stickers and these are plastic? If these are key fobs what do they unlock, or are they just keychains?

I think the stock hobbit ones are plastic. So they are "technically" replacements. However on LE/SE the likelyhood of breaking the metal ones are significantly less if not zero?
I wanted to send this to Lloyd but I'm not quite sure how you send a PM and attach a picture. Any thoughts? Anyway, I have my playfield apart installing Cliffy protectors and I removed the green "building" on the left. I noticed a PCB switch attached to the building. The PCB is on a slant and the mounting screws are cantilevered towards the PCB. Is this suppose to be normal? See the photo. I thought it strange. JLC

key fob == keychain in this case. Lol, it's pretty standard for games come with "promotional" keychains.

I believe that is an LED and it should have solderd wires running into it.

From memory when I removed that part a few times my lcd pcb was directly up and down with the recess behind it. Just tighten the screws enough that the pcb is secure (don't over tighten). The recess probably allows any heat (even though small) to dissipate.
Just got a new G.C. Tonight. Played for about an hour with a break in the middle for dinner. Defeated Smaug once, finished "Into The Fire" once, and in all played each the "mini wizard" modes three times. Completed all but one of the "Character" modes! I've never focused on completing the "Character" modes before - I've probably only completed at most 20 in any previous game. Was THRILLED to complete "The Bait". I HATE that one! I think that I've only completed it once before. Game is set to 6.25 degrees with factory stock settings except for a 5 second ball save on launch. What a game! I'm exhausted.

Wait a minute...define "completed" all but one of the character modes. If you truly BEAT them all but one then you're a Pinball god. If you just played them it's still impressive, but not god-level.

I'm pretty sure that I actually beat them all. I was focused on the modes whenever one started, which frequently happened during Smaug and Beast multiballs. It was exhausting. I'm not sure if you have to actually beat them to get "Completed" on the display over each mode set, but if you look at my picture above you'll see that it is written on two of the three sets. Only Gandalf isn't "completed". Does anyone know?
And I have to say, when the last ball drained and I hadn't gotten that last mode, it really sucked. But I was buzzing pretty well from the rest of the game so I wasn't that bummed.
And I only got one tilt warning. This frigging game is too heavy to move much during play!
