Arrrrgh!!!
As of 01/01/15, your only option to get an SE is to locate a distributor who has ordered SEs for his stock. The order book for SEs is closed per Jack.

The LE or SE debate is behind us now.
Aussie distributor have already ordered both SE and LE, there is still time here but I want to move on it very soon.

I'm sure we will find plenty of other reasons to debate SE vs. LE. Particularly since distributors will still be selling both.
Quoted from txstargazer3:I have never seen a debate end on Pinside.
I completely disagree!
Quoted from RobT:I completely disagree!
I disagree with your disagreement so lets just agree to disagree.
Quoted from Pinchroma:disagree with your disagreement
But if you disagree with his disagreement don't you agree?
EDIT: oh wait, that would mean you would have to agree to disagree
Quoted from VolunteerPin:I switched to SE the moment they announced at expo. On the Hobbit update thread a number or pinsiders are going back to the LE. That is starting to make me wonder. I love the idea of having the bad-a$$ dragon on the playfield but maybe it is too much Smaug (can there be such a thing, I wonder?)
I would love to hear from folks who have seen the latest iterations of Hobbit and give some input. Better yet, it would be wonderful to have someone with recent photos of both pins to help us make a decision. As the end of December quickly approaches, the decision needs to be made fairly soon.
For now, I'm keeping with the Smaug edition but since I've seen the 3rd movie and Smaug's lack of a significant role I am starting to reconsider the LE.
I went with SE as soon as announced and stayed. Don't care for the character side art, smaug art is great, and it will be either in between or on the end of a row in my collection, redundant side art was never a big issue for me. Like the gold packAge of metals. If I didn't know anything and walked up to the two, I'd pick the SE - just looks cooler IMO.
