Wish I lived closer! Have fun playing! Would love to hear some impressions from those who play it today.

#8 8 years ago

Love to see some new videos of the machine in action as well!

Gee....I'm about 18 minutes from you...

Go! And report back with impressions and video

#52 8 years ago

So did anyone here go and play yesterday? Anyone have any impressions/videos? I am especially curious to know how far along the code is since last report.

Here's a short video from yesterday.

Thanks! How is the code feeling these days? Did you get to play much? Impressions?

Quoted from beelzeboob:

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'll bet my youngest stepdaughter that the upper right flipper is for a one-timer Smaug killshot off the windlance. That in itself gives it enough of a reason to exist.

I haven't noticed in the videos I've seen, but does the windlance/kickback kick out to the upper flipper?

Also, the windlance is not an adjustable shot, is it? I was thinking at one point the lane was adjustable to direct the windlance shot, but am thinking that was scrapped a while ago...?? Is that correct?

Quoted from beelzeboob:

I don't know. But it seems that the windlance fires the ball in a curve right to that upper flipper.
Hey, man...as a person who was in on Hobbit and now out, I've done my share of Hobbit bashing. Let me defend it once in a while!

Oh, I didn't mean my post to be negative towards you at all, just asking some questions about the machine. I love the idea of that shot you described

Quoted from PACMAN:

It's comical how you are defending Hobbits glaring design flaw with "Keith knows but doesn't want to spoil it". Did it ever cross your mind that maybe Keith has no F-ing clue what to do with it and that's why he's stalling? Why is the feature not working on prototypes (like this one) going out?
If it turns out its only for one stupid shot that will be incredibly disappointing.

I feel like most 3rd and 4th flippers usually only have 1 or 2 shots to them, so if it is one awesome shot, than I am fine with that. But my gut tells me Keith will make the most of it. Why are you so bitter and negative? Did your mommy ween you off her teat too early?

Lol...I'll admit, I've had quite a few drinks today.

He'll be back once he finishes that HRC rule sheet. So i'll wait here patiently

What does HRC stand for?

Hillary Rodham Clinton - I had a good joke to post but I will refrain.
No, its High Roller Casino. I think he's trying to say he didn't document everything you are supposed to do for a game for the past 15 years why should you expect it now. And on pretty much day 1. Funny, pinball use to be discovering the game. Now everyone wants to know everything before they touch it.

Thanks for clearing that up for me

Can we turn the focus on this thread back to how myself and some friends got to play Hobbit, uninterrupted, for as long as we wanted yesterday, and how awesome it was? I mean, we played so much Hobbit that we were actually SICK of it. It was pretty sweet. Had to cleanse the palate with a game of Diamond Jack on the way out.
Also, there was pizza.
And stop comparing the trolling to RGP - I'm pretty sure no industry figure was bashed and baited as mercilessly there as I've seen around here, to their face, on RGP. And we used to have Steve Ritchie and others as regulars.

Thank you...now give us some detailed impressions since you got to play it so much!!

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Oh, and there's a mode where the drop targets raise and lower in order, and your goal was to shoot the standups behind the drops, and not the drops themselves. That was pretty cool.

That sounds very cool, and unique. First I heard of that...thanks!

What a sweetheart.

Lol...

Thanks for your positive contributions to this thread. Some other questions: Did the code feel fairly complete, or did it feel like there was a lot of stuff still missing? I know Keith will continue to build upon the code and refine it, but did it seem like the core game was there? I am thinking Jack said back around October the code was at 80%...so I am hoping for a mostly complete game at launch. Did anyone get to any sort of wizard modes?
