Quoted from Nemesis:

I really wish a new company would come around and f^(k off the licensed themed pins and design a clever in-house produced themed product that cost literally half the price. There is a booming market for pins, who gives a shit about the Wizard of Oz or The Hobbit?

Have you seen this yet?

Quoted from iceman44:

The discussion on profit margin is hilarious.....<edited>.....
Last time I checked it was the case in the USA you could make a product, charge whatever you want, be subject to competitive forces and demand or lack thereof would dictate whether or not you could stay in business.....
If the price point is too high and he can't sell enough units then he'll be done.....
If someone else can come along and produce the same quality pin at a lower price and still make money then go for it....
I'd like to get a Ferrari...do you think they can lower their prices, I don't want them to make a dime...I just want the Ferrari...

Well said.

Quoted from DCfoodfreak:

I like both Stern and JJP.

My brain just exploded. Is that allowed?

Hey look at this.

Just got the email with the first artwork. Looks great.

Ha ha. You beat me by 7 seconds. But at least we uploaded different pics.

Quoted from MikeS:

Being too transparent and leaking lots of tidbits of information on Hobbit before WOZ is even in production could cannibalize WOZ sales to a large degree.

FWIW confirmation on The Hobbit pretty much guaranteed I wouldn't preorder a WOZ.

Quoted from absocountry2:

I like how JJP should be getting less expensive because they have a factory in place now but Stern is OK with the increase because they are just raising the price to compete.

Who's saying this? People complaining about price seem to be complaining about both manufacturers.

It's gotten so bad around here that when JJP gets criticized people assume Stern is getting praised. And vice versa. We have two imperfect pinball manufacturers at the moment. Hopefully they'll push each other to get better.

#336 11 years ago

I know he's criticizing JJP's prices but I don't see where he's saying Stern's prices are ok. If I'm not mistaken Neo blasts Stern's prices all the time as well. He wants lower prices across the board. As do many regardless of manufacturer.

Quoted from absocountry2:

Thats all I was saying is that both should come down as well. I never said I liked any prices. They do have the right to charge whatever they want. There is a point of diminishing returns. They will find that and pull back.

I hear ya. And I agree. I was just pointing out that Neo wasn't playing favorites. Some do argue from the point of view of one brand so it can get confusing at times.

Quoted from CaptainNeo:

I'm not blaming Jack or Sterns for the prices anyway. It's not their fault. It's our fault for buying them at that price.

Bingo!

Quoted from Packerjeff:

I don't want a room full of pins so paying more for select themes I like is ok.

You say this now...

Welcome to the hobby! Maybe you'll show more restraint than some of us.
