I've been having some trouble with my Hobbit Book LCD. It seemed dim sometimes for a few games. And now, it is typically black. I traced some wires (yellow black pairs) and made sure they were seated nicely. Same with the "printer looking blue connector" cable. Anyone else have this issue? Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Please try reseating the connectors to the book and to the motherboard and be sure the ones through the back of the big metal box are tight both sides.

Thanks lloyd. I'll give it a whirl with fresh eyes in the am and report back.

Tracing back my two yellow black pairs from the book connector (reseated), only one pair of them is connected. I found this other connector floating in mid air. I'm guessing it needs a home, but I don't see anything...

One more question. What are we calling the motherboard? It seems that the only set of yellow black wires I can trace go to a power supply. nothing to the big main circuit board on the left.

Quoted from Pinball-Pat:

No it doesn't. Games often have extra connectors.

Only board with a fan on top, look for video outputs. Manual can help.

Thanks again, that's the one where the blue cable connects. I'll try wiggling these spots to see if I can recreate the problem, and then contact Jjp. Thanks again for the help.

Impressed again with Jjp.
Opened ticket last night, new screen on the way today. I love good customer service. Another 10 for the folks at JJP.

We have gone through two book displays so far. After the second one died, I decided to have a closer look and found bad solder joints on all the through hole components on the boook display driver PCB on both boards (these were most likely soldered manually at the factory). After having reflowed these joints and added sufficient solder, the displays worked fine again.

Excellent link!
I started having issues on my book again. Opened the book up, six total bolts and a dozen solder connections to re-heat! Good as new, nice quick easy fix. Thanks hansj66
