Hey everyone,

In case your podcast ap is malfunctioning this morning, I thought I'd point you to a fantastic interview with the man behind the History of Pinball booth at TPF and this thread's illustrious OP, Jeff way2wyrd Frick, with the interview deftly conducted by Nick bingopodcast Baldridge:

http://foramusementonly.libsyn.com/episode-415-interview-with-jeff-frick-2-7-18

I listened with anxious and anticipatory ears, longing for TPF to get here already. Jeff, I'm really looking forward to playing these beauties and meeting you in person next month.

Also great to hear that your...

Quoted from way2wyrd:

1934 Rock-ola Army and Navy

...will be there, if only for display, but it also has me pretty keyed-up to return in 2019 (I already have plans for that, too. Sorry to report, you'll be stuck seeing me at least a couple years in a row.)

Also was very excited to hear about a...

Quoted from way2wyrd:

Jennings Sportsman

...making an appearance!!! Who in the world is bringing this??? And I'm a little worried about whether or not it is still coming, as your last line-up update did not have it listed.

Quoted from way2wyrd:

1932 Bally Airway
1934 Rock-ola Army and Navy
1934 Bally Blue Ribbon
1939 T.H. Bergmann Elektro-Bomber (Type C)
1934 Bally Fleet
1931 Speedy
1934 Rock-Ola World’s Series X2

*fret*

Anyhow, I hope everyone enjoys the podcast, as I sure did. Finally, if anyone needs further convincing to cue-up this episode, just for funsies...toss one back for each time Jeff says, "Right?"

See you Texas, Jeff!

There's at least 4 more machines that havent been registered yet but as they go up on the site ill post them here.

The Jennings will almost definitely be there. I think the gentleman will be bringing 2 but i think they may be exhibition only with the Army Navy.

This is going to be an amazing year at TPF

I bought our Spitfire at Pin A Go Go (Now Golden State Pinball Festival in Lodi) a few years ago. Rob Hawkins and Don Mueting (the gentleman behind the Pinball Collector's Resource book) have a booth there every year with tons of original fun stuff, schematics, manuals, promos, and some parts and machines too. That year they had taken the Spitfire and it just sat there, no takers! At the end of the weekend, we were all packed up and I was helping them get their trailer packed. As Rob wheeled out the Spitfire in to that warm, California sunlight I just had to buy it. But I had no room for it so he offered to drive it down to L.A. for me. Well, life, you know? Despite seeing each other several times throughout the year, we just couldn't coordinate a pick it up time from his storage unit so he drove it back up to Pin A Go Go the next year for me. This time he set it out again and practically had to fight off prospective buyers. Now it sits next to our 1932 Olympic (by the Empire Wood Working Co) that we also got from Rob Hawkins, as well as some other pre-war games that I wish I could take to the Texas show!

Anyhow, the whole point of this story is Rob Hawkins and Don Mueting. They are amazing resources with a tremendous wealth of knowledge. And two of the nicest guys in pinball that I've ever met. If you ever need any information, research assistance or original paper, reach out to them. I know they love to spread the pinball love.

Less than 3 weeks away! A bump for excitement!

#34 7 months ago

I think I'm at 16 games.

I'm gonna need a bigger booth!

#35 7 months ago

Right on! I am really looking forward to your booth! I’ve got several pre-war machines I’ve yet to set up. This will be my motivation.
Question for early pin lovers coming to TPF, I have a *slightly* post war 1950 CCM Fighting Irish that lost a “bumper” body and cap. Do any of you have a spare you’d be willing to spare? Extra points if the bumper cap had the number 8 on it
Sorry to post this here but i figured I’d have a better chance with this crew than with the DMD heavy threads.

That is always a good thing.
That means the word is getting out, that these machines are awesome and fun to play.
The bad news is, the word is getting out that these machines are awesome and fun to play. Now the price goes up.

#49 7 months ago

Still all about the Airway and World Series for me. Something special about those two.

Jig Saw not as much. Feels like more of a bingo/“play for specials” Gottlieb game to me.

#50 7 months ago

Now we just need a Log Cabin game!

That's the cherry on top!
