Flipping thru the channels I noticed tonite's Forged in Fire episode is using a pinball machine for the contestants to make a knife. I can see its a Gottleib but cannot quite make out the specific game. Missed the first half of the show, but found this preview on You-Tube:

    Pinball is everywhere!

The backglass has the name Sunset on it. Edit, 1962 Gottlieb Sunset.

Total fake. They didn’t even try to make it realistic. They placed solid steel bumpers on the machine and the legs were cylindrical. I was looking forward to seeing this, but it’s a total joke.

Half way through the show the pin is sitting on the floor, up right, still was not destroyed. Looks like no real pinball parts were actually used in the show.

Wait, people actually WANTED to see a production company destroy an antique game?

Whe I first saw the preview, I thought “Where are they even going to get enough metal from?”.

Then I saw the opening where they had chunks of metal for bumpers and the legs were rolled steel welded onto just enough of the old legs to physically bolt them to the machine. That was where I stopped watching.

Would using metal from a pin cause forging problems? Chrome and nickel plating on the legs. The side rails and part of the lock down bar are stainless steel. The ends of the lock down bar appear to be chromed pot metal. The producers must have thought that using the pinball machine was an interesting idea. Then realizing that it couldn't be a viable TV show, and then creating parts that would work, and hopefully the viewers would not notice.
