While restoring my HS, I wanted to replace the plastic spacers. The short ones, which I had assumed were originally white, had gone yellow with age. At first, I 3d printed basic replacement cylinders, but after staring at those tree top images on the plastics I came up with the idea of turning the spacers into tree trunks. After trying out a couple different colors, I ended up liking the wood filament the most. They look great in the raw wood color, but they can also be sanded and stained for an even more of an authentic look.

Find them in my pinside shop;

I HAVE NO PLANS TO SELL THESE FINISHED. THIS IS JUST FYI

But....to give you an idea what these can look like, this is how they turned out for my game. Here's the process I used;

1) Used a green scuff pad on my dremel to lightly scuff the surface.
2) Dipped them in dark walnut stain and let them dry overnight without wiping down. The plastic/wood doesn't absorb all that well, so the stain has sit for a while
3) I then used a 2 part clear epoxy. This is optional, they look just fine without it.

I bought his first set of these and I have to say, they are AWESOME!! I am looking forward to putting them on my table in the next week or so. I haven't decided yet, if I will do a black wash on them, or just leave them as is. Raw they still look good with the plastics!
