Hi All,
I'm fairly new to the pinball world so forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology. I picked up a High Speed, it had a few minor issues but I was able to fix the issues with help from a friend. The only problem left is the ramp will not engage. I replaced the coil, the original one was frozen. It looked like the sleeve melted inside the coil. I put the new coil in and now I can move the ramp gate manually with my finger and by engaging the coil with my hand. I played a round and even after enabling the MB feature the ramps still didn't engage.

Here's a list of all the trouble shooting techniques I've tried so far:

Changed the coil - posted a pic just to verify I did it right
Continuity test from power to the power board
Continuity test from brown green to the switch board
Switch test the ramp - both switches working
Coil test - the coil doesn't fire in coil test mode
Volt test to the new coil - it's registering the same voltage as the other coils
Both left and right kick outs work

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

If the old coil was burnt up then it's likely the transistor that operates the coil is also bad. The problem can run farther up the chain you'll have to find the source.

You can find a manual in pdf form at ipdb.org that'll tell you which transistor drives your coil, you can learn about testing transistors at pinwiki.com your high speed game is a system 11 so start there.

Thanks for the info on testing the transistor Venom. I'll give that a shot tonight and post what I find.

Ground the coil just to make sure it works.

You probably need to replace the transistor.

It looks like it is a bad transistor. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for all the help.
