Can anyone verify the correct relay part number for the playfield mounted kickback relay for a high speed? Also looking for the correct wiring of it. The relay is missing so when I get one, will need to know the correct orientation to plug the wires back in.

Thanks,
Russ

ebay.com link: 5 Pack Audiopipe 12 Volt 5 Pin SPDT 30 40 Amp Relay Socket Auto Car Truck

It's just a common 12 volt cube relay. Is the resistor and terminal strip still intact. Post a pic of the terminal strip and I can tell you where each wire goes.

thanks, here is the terminal strip.

This is the relay and board closest to the kickout on mine.

Thanks Bellagio, are you able to see the part number on your relay? Thanks.

Brown wire to #86.
Grey wire to #85.
Black wire to #87.
Black/blue wire to #30.

Buy relay at any automotive parts store.

Thanks Grumpy. Guess what. I just I found the missing relay. There were actually 2 of them loose in the back of the cabinet. I reconnected one of them and the game immediately blew the 2.5 amp fuse located below the flipper board in the backbox. I replaced the fuse and then installed the other relay. Same result. Fuse instantly blew at power up. I'm guessing that is why the relay was not connected. Now I have to figure out why the fuse is blowing on the kickback.

With the power on just connect #85 and #86 with the relay in your hand. Did it click when you hook it up?

#11 6 years ago

with just 85 and 86 connected, the fuse did not blow but no clicking.

#12 6 years ago

If it does click then you have a CPU board problem, this is why it was disconnected. If disconnected you can still play the game. With the power off disconnect 1J12 off of the cpu board and check the resistance from ground to the metal tab of Q-7. Low means the transistor is shorted.

It will only click once, keep relay in your hand and turn on and off the power switch. Do you feel it, sometimes they are very quiet.

Yup. shorted transistor. Thanks for the help....

Looks like a TIP122

At the bare minimum you should replace the TIP122 with a TIP102 and the pre driver 2n4401 and the diode on the terminal board 1n4007.

thanks. yes tip102 for sure. i think the leads are reversed on the coil...this probably caused the Q7 to short.

Nice find. Yes this diode is reversed and was causing the fuse to pop any time the relay was on. This isn't what popped the transistor, one day it just popped which melted the coil. Then when someone replaced the coil and they wired it backwards and blew the fuse. Then they removed the relay and gave up. You should replace this diode too.
