Hi.

I need a picture of the area just in front of the lower pop bumper with the plastic off to determine what type of pf post should be there and and its precise location.

As you can see, mine has some damage and came with some non-original post that has since fallen off.

Thanks

Andy

I can post a pic later. I picked up a real beater last week that I am in the middle of fixing up

Appreciated, thanks

Hi Andy, Hope these are ok for you.

I'd just switched it on when I saw this post.

Also if you need any help.... I bet I live less than 10 miles away from you. Had my HS from years now and would never sell it. Its a keeper for sure.

Thanks Mark.

I'm about 1/2 hour from Sheffield depending which side of the city you're on.

Any chance of a pic with the plastic off from the front?

Is the white post a later addition?

Thanks

Andy

The white plastic post looks original. It is supporting the plastic piece above. When I get a minute tomorrow I'll take the plastic off and post some better pics.

I think a metal hex post goes there. Mine was missing.

No white plastic post on the pic from #way2wyrd.

Im not sure what you mean by a hex post. There isn't anything like that anywhere else on the playfield. Looks like it should be a red plastic post like the one next to it.

Here's some more (better) pics. TBH the post behind the amber target is not original and I'm not sure about the plastic post. The plastic itself is held in place at three points. The rubber corner post (to the left) the metal post (not original) behind the amber target (white on my HS!) and the white plastic post.

Hope these help

Thanks Mark.

I had the exact same metal post on mine, even down to the bit of shredded metal on the top

I think the white post is an added extra, unless my two hole repro plastic is wrong.

Does anyone have anything different?

This aluminum post is original and was attached to the original plastic, someone has used a drill to replace the broken plastic instead of heat gun.

#12 4 years ago

WOW... you had the same crappy bit of aluminium... lol

Before I put the plastic back on I took a file to the sharp bit at the top which was making a right mess of the plastic. I also noticed that the bottom is not cut straight, so I filed back that as well.

Then (you can see in the second photo I posted the post is not tall enough as the plastic sits above the metal strips behind the three targets. Its about 4 or 5mm too short. So I has some of that thick self adhesive felt backing used a protectors on the bottom of ornaments and such like so I made a spacer to go on the bottom of the post.

Yes it look like the white post is a added extra as your plastic only has two holes whilst mine has three. Perhaps in the field this plastic part was breaking all the time so the tech decided to secure it better with a third fastening point.

The most common broken plastic on this pin. And the play field is usually damaged under this post.

Thanks for posting the pics, working on my HS now, and mine is missing those posts too.
I was wondering what the correct posts were for under that plastic.

The post behind the target has gouged out a bit of a crater over the years. Doesn't affect the game at all so I'll let it be for the time being.

Yes, that makes sense now. Doh!

The damage is probably caused by repeated pressure from the middle target back plate from ball strikes on the target itself, combined with the closeness of the hole to the drop target cut out.

Thanks for your help guys.

Cleaned the area up, filled with wood epoxy and drilled for a T nut to give it a bit more strength.

Job's a good 'un!

Very nice, this plastic and post is like a bash toy. Lots of abuse.

#19 4 years ago

Will probably tidy it up if I plump for a hardtop.

In the meantime I will just play the shit out of it - in between finding out why I have suddenly lost all speech and a few other sounds.

This hobby just keeps on giving

Is this at the end of a ball when the score is counted up? Mine just did this, sounds very very faint during bonus count. DAC chip was bad. Could also be Q-1 or C-8

I just picked up a high speed that was heading for the dumpster. Been working on it for 3 weeks and got it flipping yesterday, needed power supply and mpu work. Will be doing rubbers and lights this weekend and replacing displays, waiting on flipper rebuilds to deliver and it should be ready to go. Playfield looks like garbage but I'm just going to play it and then pass it on to someone who wants to hardtop it later
