Sounds to me like your EOS isn't gapped properly.

It's not the transistor. They don't 'act up.' They work, or they do not.
Also, your solder connections really need to be redone on the middle lug and banded lug. It looks like you only have about half of the wire physically connected. Unsolder, cut back a bit, re strip, and get more wire soldered to the lugs.
Lastly, get rid of those crimp connects, it is just one more spot that can cause issues. If you need to add additional length, solder them together and cover with shrink tubing.
