Picked this up the other day, needed some flipper work and it now plays great. Had to do a few small touch ups on the playfield and have a playfield protector on the way. I have set it to extra hard settings and about 6.8 pitch, finding it quite easy to getaway and hit the jackpot etc. Think I need to read up on the rules.
Love the old skool sound effects and prefer this to The Getaway which I have owned.

Fitted a playfield protector and sunlights in the GI, ball rolls smoothly now and art is protected from getting worse.
All good.

Quoted from Canuck_pinhead:

Where'd you buy it from?

I managed to get one new from eBay for a good price as wasn’t used, but it is from here https://www.playfield-protectors.com/Home/Details/6OZ0CdN4DkCmxneLSoDBVw?catgoryid=22&name=High%20Speed%20%7C%201986%20%7C%20Playfield%20Protector

Quoted from Canuck_pinhead:

Does it adhere to the surface or is it held down by the fixings?

Just lays flat, nothing really holds it down. Works really well.

Quoted from MRudowsky:

Just got the mirrored High Speed backglass from CPR installed on Sunday. It's good, but if I have to nitpick, the rear view mirror isn't as reflective as I'd hoped. My old one wasn't too bad and the reflection was very clear. On the repro it isn't as mirror-y as I was expecting.
I also got a new Joker Poker glass at the same time and my complaint there is that the tinted scoring windows aren't as clear as the original either (the displays are a bit 'blurred').
Granted both glasses are beautiful and I don't regret getting them, but was slightly disappointed. I'd say 8/10.

I was disappointed with the TAF version and Indy, TZ is pretty good though. Put me off buying anymore as an upgrade.

Thanks, it was satisfying to see it all done. It took a couple of hours since HS has 15 of these.

Nice work, looks great. You forgot to add band aid to your list, I hate it when you slip

Quoted from HighSpeed1:

The background sound board is the top left as mentioned. U4 is the sound ROM chip, and should have a sticker on the top of it. Once in a while my background sound goes out, I remove one of J1, 2, or 3 and re seat, music comes back. I'm due for a connector replacement.
[quoted image]

Mine does this too, I have reflowed the connectors on the sound board but still does it. Mostly at turn on I don’t get the bong and I know the music will not come on, if I tap the backglass it will bong then work or if I just leave it for 5 mins or so it will work.

I have wiggled connectors etc but still can’t work it out so have just left it, one day it will be fixed!

Quoted from BlueBlood:

Anyone have a new CPR playfield? Curious to see if others have issues with theirs. I got one, my first CPR playfield, I’m not impressed. As much shit as everyone talks about Mirco, I was expecting so much better from CPR.

I bought a Fish Tales playfield from them last summer, the black text was blurry and the shooter lane switch slot was not cut out. Inserts were also a bit lower.
Sent it back and got another which was ok except 2 edges got damaged, the inserts were level. Had to to put rails on both sides as it started to warp in a couple of weeks in a climate controlled room! Inserts are near enough level still after 8 months, fitting this summer.
Oh and the orange sunset is not very orange. Clear coat looks ok and hard.

Digital print now so will not look as good as original close up.

Those older CPR playfields we’re screen printed and graded, good old days.

Quoted from BlueBlood:

This is from the newest-ish batch ordered January 2023. I understand small inaccuracies here and there, but no markings are useable. The accuracy seem like an alignment issue, gets worse the further you go down the playfield. Just expected better from them. It is what it is.

Yeah, I’ve been told this. Someone told me to use some kind of clear plastic sheet that sticks to use as a template to transfer the holes accurately.
Good luck!
