Yep,
The middle one was my old one, awesome condition re-import (single door). Back when dad and I were on a Ritchie binge lol

2 months later

Dad's HS arrived over the weekend. CPR playfield is being delivered Friday. Now over the next month I will be accessing the game a tweaking. Then the tear down, polishing and tumbling... oh the endless polishing and tumbling. (Yes the backglass is currently cardboard, didn't want to break the glass in transit.)

When you think about it, the cost difference of restoring the old one vs the CPR playfield, the vote went for CPR. My dad will hold onto the playfield, who knows maybe one day get it restored. This is my dad's most played game in his collection, and he wants the SPEED lol. Cabinet is just as nice if not nicer. I scored 7.58Million on the game the other night. It's going to be one hell of a pin.

Quoted from lordloss:

Can you take a video of your gameplay so we can check out your game?

I can take a video, the light post were definitely a mod.

#200 10 years ago

Currently uploading to Youtube. Watching the video, yes the top pop bumper needs to be tweaked a little, it's not as sensitive as the others... and YES that was the worst multi-ball haha. Oh yea, and there are currently 3 different brands/ styles of LED's in the tachometer, and YES the brightest ones are Comet PinballI was testing out a few different options while my dad was here. Enjoy

Quoted from TVP:

Your upper flipper is pretty strong. Is the coil stock?
I have a FL23/600 coil (per the manual), rebuilt per vids sticky, eos adjusted properly, new flipper switch, bushing and bat shaft clean/smooth, ramp is in great condition. I wish mine had a little more strength.?.
Nice looking machine.

I just put a new EOS switches on all three flippers a couple days ago, the cabinet flipper switches definitely need to be replaced but I filed them with a nail file and wa-la. Everything is stock, with FL23/600.

Made some good progress today, has anyone else made fresh white oak side rails for the game? I'm about to start looking... 1/2"x1-1/8". Other than that, topside was a total breeze. I know I will pay for it on the bottom side.

All the mechs are off now, I don't know if anyone else has found the HS manual less than helpful finding replacement parts... I need help, the kicker arms and ball ejects use a 2-1/2" non tapered spring. Whats the part number for it? Or a general williams 2-1/2" spring I can use.

As far as labeling, I am not the best at reading schematics, so I label.. Everything. F# for flashers, C# for coils, S# for switches etc. I wish I could say the rest is down hill, no way.

Quoted from tonycip:

nice keep the pic's coming I have to do mine yet. +1 on the manual. and are the flipper coils all the same or is the upper one different? i see you have one yellow one..

The upper right flipper coil is the original and the two lower are "newer" but still the 23/600. I plan on re-wrapping all the coils so it won't look different (other than slightly slimmer). I believe I found the generic mechanism spring on Marco #10-128.

#283 10 years ago

Yes, re-graining sucks, no it's not worth a ton of pics - BUT I did discover a pretty nifty trick. I saved the box from CPR thinking it may come in handy, it sure did. I would take the ball guide and puncture the card board with the securing angles. It really made it easy to secure it right where I want it. HS has a lot less ball guides then some other game, but holy heck they had some deep scores in them.

Grab us some part numbers if you can, i'm having trouble finding anything remotely like this.

3M Scotch Brite Finishing Sander 9416NA (fine) or Medium 9415NA

Rainy day = a lot of progress. I currently have all 3 wiring harnesses separated and ready for a bath, filthy. Tumbler has been running almost nonstop for 2 days. Waiting on about 5 packages of pinball parts to come in.

P.S. I may want a refund from CPR... the colors are wayyy off! Hahaha

IMG_0577.jpgIMG_0577.jpg IMG_0588.jpgIMG_0588.jpg
#305 10 years ago

Oh yea! Almost forgot to mention, there is a pre-drilled hole missing on the left ball guide (return). If you notice on the old playfield to the right of "kickback W/ lit" the new CPR is missing that hole for a 6-32 T-nut. Not a big deal at all, I have installed a High Class pinball Funhouse playfield and it was a common problem.

#310 10 years ago
Quoted from Mocean:

Not sure if the picture is hiding major wear, but many of us would do swaps to get something the condition of your old playfiled...
The new one is just insane.

Valid point, I definitely agree, but the price to restore the old one would definitely be just as much or more than a new repro. That's when you have the right person doing it of course. I've seen clearcoat work where they shoot over mylar

#333 10 years ago

Just a quick update. Tumbling the coil brackets in walnut media removes the brass plating, I could care less but some of you might. All my coil wrappers came in from PPS, can't be more satisfied, very adhesive, perfect size.

I don't know how many of you are reusing or bought new ground wire from pinrestore, the 18g ground wire they sell is awesome, solder flows perfect on it, and it very maneuverable.

Quoted from Jeff_PHX_AZ:

What website is PPS? I wanna order some. Your progress is coming along very nicely! I can't wait to see the pic's. when you're done!

http://www.planetarypinball.com/

It's a bear to find all the ones you need. Just do a search for the coil you need "AE 23 800" something really generic along those lines and you will find the wrappers. Search "-01" or "-03" for the smaller labels.

#338 10 years ago
Quoted from tonycip:

damn I forgot all about that thanks for the reminder also i was wondering what about the guide wires that are on the play field..aren't they just hammered in? how are you putting those in? drilling a pilot hole first?

I used a flat head screw driver and my hand as a fulcrum, as far as putting in the new ones I have to wait until I get all the ground wire stapled in place. I am going to do one of the wire guides at the top of the playfield as a guinea pig without making a pilot hole. I didn't have to make pilot holes for my Funhouse playfield. If I end up having to make a pilot hole I will report back on the size, you just really run the risk of making it too big and the guide coming out over time.

Now that I'm thinking about it would be nice if someone made a list of all the incidentals like T nuts, light sockets how many and type, and any thing else you might think of .

Well now that you mention it.....

1. 25 "staple" light sockets in the game
2. 26 T-nuts all size 6-32
3. I bought 15' of ground wire and will have plenty to spair
4. Coil wrappers from PPS

Hello all! I'm in need of the slingshot crank arms... I replaced the old ones with WPC style ones and didn't even realize the difference in how they are extended to actuate the leaf switch under the sling mechs.... Does anyone have some old beat up ones they can get rid of??

http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/B-9463

I don't need the whole assembly this is only for reference. PLEASE HELP!! I'm so close to finishing this...
