Quoted from spfxted:

Why cant playfields be made out of that material they make decks out of. Is it a vinyl-type material? Then clearcoat it. Would that work?

It was played with in the past. I'm not sure if the artwork was painted underneath. Orbiter 1 has a clear PF with a moonscape below. I remember way back people discussing hole stripping, polishing cloudiness, dust attraction . . . I'll have to go way back and read again.

Quoted from metahugh:

Quoted from Dankburg himself. Did he lie or are you saying The Verge is committing libel?

I don't think anyone is saying either. My first thought was the interviewer mis-heard him say 8%. But the fact that he continued to stress that private owners expect perfection means this was an important topic.

Very interesting if true.

Quoted from Air_Pinball:

80% of Stern's US sales, it said.
Is Europe's breakdown different? More games routed than US?

Good question. It might just be that it is hard to track. Is there a difference in paperwork when a distributor sells to an operator versus a private collector?

And stop making me reliable for what's being posted here.

It is all your fault. Because of you Lloyd got to slip in a WWE joke.

Quoted from jwilson:

Might be a UL/CSA thing? I know they moved the power switch on P2K up a bit for UL reasons.

It is not only the distance from the power supply. Now you are routing wall power from the head to the cabinet and the head folds and have to account for that. I'll bet this creates the possibility to pinch the wire and create a short. So now you created a hazard with the game off.

Quoted from nitrojcrawf:

New growth wood is different from wood 20 years ago. Not as solid or stable. Could be different adhesive to if the insert is truly moving. Looks to be a reaction between clear and inserts. I'm sure some resolution will be reached. Whether we like it may be a different story

Don't say this. Vid will post a link for you to his own thread telling you differently. If he already put it in a thread you must be wrong. No matter how many people have discovered the truth.

Remember all old playfields are pounded completely flat. Even if this means the areas the balls can't reach like the last 1/2" around posts and just non-ball areas. I can draw a diagram showing a logical thought but then I would get bombarded by Kool-Aid drinkers.

So wood has not changed EVER.

Quoted from clg:

...
The wood utilized by us and our former competitors for playfields over the last decades has been made to the same specifications, as has the “hardcoat” coating. The routing, sanding, finishing, etc., processes utilized to manufacture playfields over those decades have not changed.
...

I thought the one thing every playfield restorer actually agrees on is that the "hardcoat" coating has changed. The old processes of coating, diamond plating or whatever was actually yellowish. The new clears are crystal clear.

It's time to boycott Stern until they take care of everybody. We need to for a pinside "union".

And if Stern said tomorrow "Star War LE $10K only 200 being made!" guess how many scabs will cross the picket line. I'd guess 200 within 48 hours.

I was going to say something mean. But this fits also -

Quoted from vid1900:

No it's a sign of great design.
Comet was the first game designed so the ball would violently hit the glass, surprising players still to this day.
Comet made insane money on route, and thus Williams sold 8,000 of them.
Whitewater was another game where the ball regularly hits the glass. It added to the reward of hitting the longest (at the time) ramp in pinball.
Williams sold 7,000 of those.

White Water ramp - Great design and satisfying shot to hear.

TZ- Bad design with weak target next to the slot.

TOTAN ball launch - infuriating PITA on an otherwise close to perfect designed game.

so any further news/ updates re: "the program" ?

First rule of "The Program" is you don't talk about The Program.

Or you can read about it on Rotten Tomatoes - https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_program/

(Sorry, bump)
