Yea.. I got lucky on my Met Pro. One and out. Good luck, Stern. Sorry to everyone who is going to get this new junk they're sending out.

Quoted from Pins4me:

You need to keep in mind, these problems are an expectation.

You said it, brother.....

Quoted from o-din:

These are commercial machines and were never advertised as anything else.

This is really incorrect. The LE's are intended as collectibles. They even come with a bullshit signed certificate of authenticity kind of thing, and a numbered plate. It is marketed and advertised as a collectible.

Quoted from vid1900:

Gary Stern did not say 80% at the last Expo.
I have never been quoted in any newspaper or magazine article without it being full of mis-quotes.
Yes, the writer records the interview on a digital recorder (like a Tascam), but that does not make it any more accurate.
Even if I hand them a "bullet point" sheet with proper numbers or time table on it, there will always be some glaring misquote that my boss will ask if I "really said that".
No one cares.
If you call them out on an important error, they publish a tiny correction in a future edition.
A web-only article will sometimes fix the online edition, but how many people go back and read the same article twice?

It's ok just to admit you're wrong sometimes....
There are two independent sources that claim 80%, quoting two different people.

It's either 80%, or Stern wants people to know it's 80%.

Quoted from TheZohan:

So the Verge was told 80%. I personally am suspect of that as I know Stern never releases any accurate figures about anything to the public at large

“There are more collectors today,” says Mr. Stern, 67 and CEO of the company. He estimates that 80 percent of his company's domestic sales go into homes. “More people are getting into the hobby of it.”

I'm fine with player condition pins. Most of mine are. I'm just not fine when they achieve that status coming RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX....

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

Correlation does not equal causation. No one knows what caused the problem yet. Could be cost cutting, could be something else.

Probably a new company doing work outside of their normal expertise. In manufacturing, you normally only leave a source you're happy with (i.e. who provides good quality) due to costing issues.

If these playfields aren't coming from the same company who made them for Stern for years, then this is a cost cutting change. Plain and simple.

#3205 7 years ago
Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

Maybe not. I'll evaluate the evidence before I decide. If you have some to share I'd like to see it.

30 years experience in manufacturing is my evidence. I've been screwed by moving sources for cost cutting reasons myself. It happens. How you react to it is what matters.

#3210 7 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

More valid reasons out there than just cutting costs.

I don't believe that for a second, regarding Stern. Their history just doesn't fit that narrative.

I would NEVER turn on a source to full production when trying to diversify the supplier base. There would have to be a long testing phase with the new product, and not doing so would introduce excessive exposure/risk. (don'tcha think?) If diversification was what they were going for, they failed miserably.

I paid $1600 more than my GBLE which all the flipper dicks were crawling over themselves to grab up?
What do you think?
In any event, both of these pins are F ing great. Buy whatever floats your weird ass boat.

Both GB and BM66 suck donkey balls. You aren't even half right.

Quality, a thing of the past.

Can you imagine what these things would cost with proper quality control??????
